the sun was peeking through the fluffy-looking clouds in the blue colored sky that morning, seeping through the tall, bushy trees and illuminating slightly the soft, navy blue blanket laid on the ground where a large bag containing lots of food could be found along with some baby plates and a tube of sunscreen.
"mommy, i don't want sunscreen!" the youngest, park minseo, whined loudly as she swung her little arm to escape hari's grip, trying to stop her from smearing the white cream over her milky skin that recalled her father's but the hold on her body only got tighter to make sure she wouldn't slip away from her.
"do you wanna become the same color of your dress? it'll be over faster if you stay still." minseo's lips curved into a pout as she dropped onto the blanket defeated, a small chuckle erupting from her father's mouth as he ruffled her raven hair softly making her giggle cutely. "come on baby, if you sit still daddy will buy you ice cream later." sunghoon smiled widely once the three year old turned her head towards him excitedly with face lightened up in happiness, big, boba eyes wide in anticipation at the mention of her favorite food.
"what about me?" the oldest daughter, park iseul, questioned with a sad tone and eyes gazing down, seated on sunghoon's lap with one of his muscular arms wrapped around her protectively. her small, chubby arms were crossed over her chest, wrinkling the fabric of her flowery dress.
the boy leaned down and kissed her head sweetly to melt her sadness away, pushing her chocolate bangs out of her eyes and raising her round face to look at him. "of course we'll get you ice cream as well baby." the five year old finally flashed him the same bunny smile she inherited from her father, hari watching the scene unfold before her irises with a melting heart and eyes fond with love.
life really couldn't feel more perfect.
five years ago, after hari left and stayed at minju's place, sunghoon didn't give up on looking anywhere for her even when he thought it was nearly impossible to find her anywhere. he visited any place she could've possibly been staying at, asked his neighbors and her coworkers if they had seen her anytime but he would barely get any answer.
it was only when one day, while laying in their bad sobbing his eyes out, he received a call from hari who asked him to finally meet again and talk. he promised to be more present in their lives and free his schedule when he could, because he really couldn't live without the both of them, and he only realized it when he nearly lost them.
"can you imagine if i never went for that job interview five years ago? i wonder how i would've raised iseul all by myself." hari told him as she rested her head on his broad shoulders with a hand over her stomach, watching their kids play together a few meters away from them with loud giggles ringing in their ears as they chased eachother under the soft sunlight.
hoon rested his head on top of hers sweetly before wrapping an arm around her waist, his hand protectively over her lower abdomen and caressing it over the candid fabric of her sundress that hid her three months old bump. "i would probably still be a workaholic and i would be married to a witch." she chuckled at the word 'witch' that he often used to call his ex fiancée, still hating her guts even if it's been half a decade and she wasn't even around anymore.
speaking of takara, she had been sentenced to fifteen years in prison shortly after the police found an indefensible amount of evidence against her. hari's mother was arrested as well not so long after when she accidentally confessed the reason for them to plan a murder and was sentenced to seven years instead.
their intentions were to kill hari in a car accident leaving sunghoon alone, so that takara would be able to marry him and share his money with hari's mother. they honestly expected it from takara, but not from hari's mother, who didn't seem like someone that would've gone to such lengths for some money.
"when are we gonna tell the babies about their brother?" he looked down at her with so much love she could drown in it, the girl pressing her lips together in hesitation before glancing back at him with a clueless gaze shrugging her shoulders and her honey smile cracking her features. "i don't know yet."
he chuckled and held her close to him, as if she could slip through his fingers at any moment, before kissing the top of her head deeply and placing his hand over her soft one to caress the back of it with his thumb. "i love you baby."
"i love you too."
