as hari tossed in her sleep over and over before sighing heavily, she sat up from the black, uncomfortable couch and glanced at the clock hanging on the wall that displayed one in the morning before running her fingers through her messed up chocolate hair attempting to ease her throbbing headache but failing miserably.

the sound of the passcode being inserted into the system grabbed her attention and before she could snap her head to the door, sunghoon was already walking towards the stairs planning to quickly wash up and go to bed but he was stopped by her faint voice calling for him. "hoon..?"

he halted on his steps and heaved out a deep sigh, the hand that was previously holding the stair handrail dropping defeated before he turned his body towards her with an emotionless expression that questioned her what she wanted. "what? i’m tired so make it quick." hari clutched the hem of her oversized t-shirt so tightly it’ll wrinkle under her grip, avoiding eye contact by glancing at the furniture between their figures as she struggled to let out the words on the tip of her tongue. "i cooked you dinner if you’re hungry, i can just heat it up—"

"i’m not hungry. just put it in the fridge and save it for yourself." he began to walk back upstairs with heavy steps leaving her alone in the quiet living room to drown in her own thoughts, her puffy eyes observing his figure walking away from there as tears began to pool in her eyes for the umpteenth time that day.

ever since sunghoon got the ceo position, he became so distant and absent, barely spending time home apart from sleeping, and when he does he's closed in his studio working even more than he does at the company. hari is tired of this, spending her day looking after his baby alone and staying up until late night waiting for him only for him to give her the cold shoulder and act like she didn't even exist.

it felt like sleeping in the same bed as a stranger.

"don't you think you’re working too much? when was the last time you changed iseul’s diaper—"

"i’m sorry if i can't just sit around doing nothing all day like you, but i have to lead a company and it’s not easy. god, why do you have to complain so much?" the boy walked away from there and hari bursted into a river of tears rolling down her pearl-like cheeks, dropping her body onto the floor violently before hugging her legs and burying her face in them to somewhat muffle her sobs.

she couldn't handle this much longer, it was taking a toll on her mentally and physically. she had dangerously dropped all the weight she gained during her pregnancy in less than two weeks by skipping most of her meals and the lack of sleep was visible on her delicate features, either having to stay up by herself to keep up with the baby or silently crying herself to sleep.

the brunette glanced at the drawer a few meters away from her with hesitant eyes, wiping a crystalline tear that dampened her cheek before standing from the floor and walking towards it, but just when her hand reached out for the handle and her fingers wrapped around it she froze. something inside of her told her this was an impulsive decision and that she should probably reflect on it once she was more lucid.

no, this just proved her that she can't endure this any longer.

hari opened the drawer and slid out the folder that contained divorce papers with shaky hands, setting them down on the small, glass table before heaving out a deep breath with eyelids fluttered close, seating herself on the couch and grasping the pen her husband is usually seen using to sign documents before finally gaining the courage to leave a single black dot on the white paper.

it's for the best. yeah, it's for her own well being.

the girl quietly sobbed as her pen glided over the candid paper, leaving her signature behind with trembling hands and teary, red eyes. she set the stylograph down and stared at what she had just written, a river of tears streaming down her face before burying her face in her hands and crying over spilled milk.

this was the end of an important chapter of her life, and she didn't feel ready for this kind of change.
