"i'm assuming you all have no idea why i called you all for a last minute meeting." mr.park started as he looked at everyone seated in front of him at the long, glass table in the meeting room, the older man seated at the head of the table with sunghoon on his right and jaehyun on his left as the new father kept his phone in his hand checking the notification bar every minute to make sure his wife hasn't texted him.
it was the day hari was finally gonna get discharged from the hospital after being kept in a whole week for further observation due to her head injury, and coincidentially sunghoon's father decided to schedule a last minute meeting to discuss something so important that jungwon couldn't attend the meeting instead of the president.
"i called this last minute meeting to deliver the news that park jaehyun will no longer be the ceo of our company, and he will be replaced by my son park sunghoon." sunghoon's ears couldn't process the news his father just delivered to everyone, his lips slightly ajar and his eyes wide as he averted his gaze to his cousin who could only sit in silence defeated at the whole situation.
"i'm assuming many of you have seen the news regarding jaehyun's wife, takara, who was recently charged with attempted murder of two women." the man paused for a moment, glancing at his son before continuing. "to be specific, one of them turned out to be my daughter-in-law, and i will not tolerate for someone like this to be associated with our company. therefore, jaehyun will be stepping down as the ceo."
the raven's shock only grew further at the chairman's words, trying to digest what just slipped past his father's lips since not only did he finally earn the position he has always dreamt of, but the person that nearly killed his family was just revealed to him without even needing to search for them. just how crazy can takara become?
"wait, sunghoon," jaehyun grabbed sunghoon's arm after catching up with the latter, who was rushing to leave the packed room as his father dismissed the meeting and get to the hospital before his wife could leave, stopping him from walking a step further as the boy diverted his gaze from his phone screen that displayed an open conversation and looked at his cousin confused. the older dragged sunghoon aside and let out a deep sigh whilst avoiding eye contact, gaining the courage to say the words he never thought he'll pronounce. "i'm sorry."
"i'm sorry for everything i did, and i especially want to apologize for what takara did to you and hari. i'm the one that reported her to the police. i found some strange conversations talking about causing a car accident and how she was stalking your wife, so i decided to report her to the police. i'm sorry once again." the boy bowed deeply as a sign of how deeply he meant his apology, his head low and his eyes filled with disappointment because of how embarrassing it was for him to apologize after all the issues he caused.
"do you know who the other person was..? who was takara talking to?" jaehyun slowly raised his head confused at the sudden change of topic, his thick brows slightly knitted as he scratched his nape trying to remember the contact named displayed on the upper part of the screen. "something like mrs.cha? yeah, i think that was it."
what was even happening that day? how was it possible that the truth about the people that have been pestering them for months suddenly surfaced? there has to be some trick behind it, there is no way things would resolve that easily.
and anyway, why was only takara charged with attempted murder if hari's mother was an accomplice?
sunghoon's brain nearly couldn't function with all the infos he had to process in less than fifteen minutes as his mind was nearly blank, and an uneasy feeling settled into his stomach, as if he had some kind of tingling that was alerting him to worry about his family that was currently out of his sight.
"i.. i gotta go." and with that, the dark-haired boy ran out of the room leaving his cousin dumbfounded.
