The nightclub was a sensory symphony that enveloped me in a dizzying dance of shadows and melodies. The pulsating music reverberated within me, creating an electric current that seemed to synchronize with my heartbeat.

As I stepped into the dimly lit space, I found myself immersed in an aesthetic that transcended the ordinary. The dance floor, bathed in shades of purple and deep blue, was home to an eclectic mix of people swaying to hypnotic rhythms. Shimmering orbs hung overhead, casting an otherworldly glow that painted the surroundings with a mysterious allure.

The atmosphere of the club was a delicate balance of the sensual and the enigmatic. Silhouettes moved gracefully, and the air was suffused with a heady mix of aromas, from subtle scents to the unmistakable smell of marijuana.

I loved this place. It reminded me of the nightclub Blaze had taken me to.

"Have you ever been to a place like this before?" Liz asked, curious.

Part of me wanted to mention that it wasn't my first time, but I didn't want to risk upsetting her if she had a strong dislike for Blaze. She appeared deeply devoted to Cain, and if he held any negative feelings towards Blaze, she might reciprocate them.

"No,"  I said, thinking that it was very easy for me to lie around either of them.

Her gaze met mine, and then her eyebrow arched up in skepticism. She clearly didn't believe me, but for now, she kept quiet about it.

She excitedly suggested, "We should grab some drinks and head to the dance floor!" And without hesitation, she grabbed my hand and pulled me along with her.

"I typically don't consume this much alcohol," I objected, attempting to break free.

Liz flashed a teasing grin and replied, "I know, I know. And I bet you've never attempted to set Cain ablaze either, have you?"

A rush of warmth flooded my cheeks as I recalled that unforgettable evening. I tried to speak, but no words escaped my lips.

"Come on, we'll give you cocktails. The bartender at this place is amazing at mixing drinks; we can request that he add more juice than  alcohol," she added.

Following Liz's lead, I made my way to the bar while The Weeknd's "Ordinary Life" blasted through the club. The bartender moved with finesse, almost as if he were dancing to the music. He caught my eye under the colorful lights, and I couldn't help but admire him. Despite the dim lighting, he looked surprisingly young—maybe in his twenties. Liz sat next to me, keeping a close watch on me as she exchanged some words with the bartender. I found it hard to tear my gaze away from him. For a fleeting moment, I entertained the idea of sleeping with him but quickly pushed it out of my mind. It wouldn't work out—I didn't like younger men, and I already had enough complications in my love life. Adding another guy to the mix would only make things more complicated.

I shyly returned the smile he gave me as he handed me my cocktail. When I reached for him, our skin briefly made contact, and he winked and returned another smile.

Why is the universe mocking me? Why couldn't I have met him or someone like him before my mind was filled with nothing but thoughts of Cain and Blaze.

And not just my mind, apparently.

"I think that's enough,"  Liz said. I turned to her, not knowing who she was talking to or what she was referring to, raising my glass to my lips. "She's Cain's girlfriend,"  she went on to tell the bartender. "I don't think it would be wise of you to continue.".

I turned my head to glance at the bartender, and I noticed that his face had paled. He was clearly intimidated by him. I couldn't help but wonder what would happen if Cain found out that the bartender had been giving me flirty looks. Did Liz care about this? Was she upset that the bartender was interested in me instead of her? It wouldn't be the first time someone reacted negatively to not being the center of attention.
