I stared down at my plate, almost second guessing my decision.

"Lovely seeing you wanting to try local cuisine, my love."
Alastor spread my untouched napkin on my lap.
"But you can take some of my deer of you are still hesitant. I wouldn't want you to starve."

"No- I- I was just caught off-guard."

"...from the thing YOU ordered...?"

"I suppose so, yeah. Silly me."

"Oh, darling, don't fret!"
Rosie told me.
"The angelic meat is delicious!"

Here goes nothing...

I took in the dark meat with the yellowish tint, not knowing what to expect...

...Oh.
It's quite nice, actually.
Not my cup of tea, but it's not too different from chicken.

"Well?"
She asked.

My mouth was full, so I nodded as an answer.

"Ah, you've got something right there..."
Al kissed some juice away from the corner of my lips.
Oh lord.

"Oh Alastor, you cheeky rascal. Focus on your food before Y/n chokes on their's!"
Rosie laughed.
"I've never seen you even close to acting like that towards anyone. You are getting soft, how sweet!"

"I have no idea what you are talking about."
Alastor smiled smugly and kept on eating.
Do did I, after I recovered.

I decided to leave the meat alone and took care of the other non-parts things on my plate.
"I have something to ask you, if you don’t mind."

"Sure, ask away!"

I raised my eyes, using a serious tone.
"What would be the best way to take an overlord down?"

"Oh, I sure hope it's not me you are referring to!"
Rosie chuckled.

Al seemed less amused.
"There’s no need for this type of questioning over the lunch table."

Rosie attempted to defuse the forming tension.
"It’s alright, really-"

"I'd really like to hear Rosie's advice on this matter."
I insisted.

"I told you love, I'll be taking care of this-"

"Not after the shit you pulled at the roof, you are not. I mean- no angelic weapons? Seriously??"
I scolded.
"I am tired of waiting. This has been going on for too long. I don't need you to do all the work."

Alastor dropped his utensils on the table, loudly and unexpectedly.

"I don't want you to come in contact with the Vees."
He said slowly and seriously.
"Not after the ridiculous nonsense YOU pulled a few months ago, coming in there without a plan."

I squinted at him, trying to hide how hurt I was from that comment.
I never recovered from that incident, I keep my windows shut and minimise the time I spend outside on my own.

"Angel dust-"

"Don’t mind him. I only mind you, and what's best for you is to stop worrying for nothing."

"I worry for nothing?? YOU deciding what's best for ME?"
I was pissed.
"I won't accept this. How dare you."

Alastor's temper showed.
"You don't know what it was like to-"

"You don't know what it was like to BE there with THEM."
I snapped back, feeling tears in my eyes.
"And other demons are forced to live through that double hell EVERY DAY."
