The two girls found themselves sitting in front of the water, sitting side by side on the sand. Yunjin isn't sure if Chaewon has finally sobered up, but they have been there for only a few minutes.
She didn't dare ask Chaewon anything. Besides, the older girl only asked her to stay with her for a bit. She didn't tell Yunjin to ask her questions while they were together.
They could still hear the faint music from the party, but it was now overpowered by the sounds of the waves crashing against each other. It was more relaxing. It is more calming than the music from the party.
The cold air accompanied them, too.
It was as if the whole resort was setting the mood for the both of them, or maybe that's just what Yunjin thinks.
To her, it just felt like things were falling into place.
Their hands no longer held each other, but Yunjin could still feel that electrifying feeling in her palm. It felt static-y, prickly, almost, but her heart felt warm.
Being with Chaewon has always felt that way. Always.
"Yena unnie called me earlier," The younger girl turned to look at Chaewon, who was staring at the water. It was dark, but it didn't seem like she cared. It didn't seem like Chaewon actually wanted to see something in the water.
Yunjin was a bit shocked that Chaewon was suddenly sharing something, "She asked if I was going to attend the basketball game."
The redhead slowly bit her lip as her eyes drifted away from Chaewon. She turned her gaze towards the sand as she moved her toes around under it.
"Are you?"
Chaewon didn't respond for a second and Yunjin was almost sure that the older girl didn't want to attend.
"I- I will." Chaewon sounded like she slurred her words. "Not like I have a choice," She scoffs, "Minju will be there." she sounded more intoxicated now.
Yunjin tries her best to block Minju's name from her brain but she still hears Chaewon say the other girl's name so clearly. The ache in her system came back as if she had been kicked in the gut.
But she shrugs it away, acting as if it didn't hurt her.
"I have a question-"
"You sound drunker than sober. We need to get you to bed." Yunjin unintentionally cut the older girl off. Her body and mouth moved on their own, way before she could even process her own actions and the words that would leave her lips.
And before she knew it, she was already standing up, leaving her sitting position just seconds ago as she started dusting off her pants. "Let's go."
"Didn't you hear me, Huh? I said I have a question for you." Chaewon was now staring up at her, brows furrowed, and eyes squinted. She looked offended. Irritated, even.
Probably because she was drunk or this was just her usual self. Always mad at little things that Yunjin does.
"You're drunk, I say we get you to bed instead of asking me a question. Besides, it's getting pretty late, too." Yunjin tried to pull Chaewon off of the sand, but the older girl was just too stubborn. She refused to move, even if Yunjin was already pulling her up forcefully.
She was literally fighting back. That was a dead giveaway that Chaewon was indeed slightly drunk.
"No way! It's still pretty early! See, they're still partying over there! And I'm finally sober." Chaewon snatches her arm away from Yunjin's hold. She almost fell backward on the sand, and luckily, she could still catch herself.
