☆ Scene One - Ember preparing for her job: ☆
I stare happily at my new 'LaRusso Auto Parts' shirt, extremely excited for my very first job. After watching Mr. LaRusso these past few days - and maybe doing some breathing exercises with him - he gave me the offer to start working with Robby, phrasing that it would be part of my 'training.' Of course, Robby was a bit hesitant for the sake of my health, but he felt a little more reassured knowing I'd be working with him. That way if I was tired, he could pick up whatever work I was doing. As much as I didn't want him babying me, I understood and accepted this offer. We went over it with our mom as well, but it's not like she'd even realize I was gone or really be at home.
"Alright, now, you're going to start with washing the cars while your brother does the windows." Mr. LaRusso explains to me. I nod, feeling myself smile in excitement. I made sure to take a few extra pain meds today, so I seemed extra prepared for the work ahead of me. No pain, no problem or slacking off. As I begin scrubbing the cars full of eagerness, I am quickly stopped by Mr. LaRusso who is ready to correct me entirely. "Not like that... Like this," He stands next to me, taking in a deep breath. He shows his right-hand circling to the right and his left-hand circling to the left. "Wax on, wax off." He smiles, doing it again. "Wax on, wax off." I nod, taking the cloth back and following his lead. He gives me a pat on the back praising me. "That's it! Now keep on going!"
I feel myself growing more and more excited as it all goes on, wondering if I can rebuild myself and my strength through the process. I'd rather fight and work on myself than let myself rot in our shitty apartment.

☆ Scene Two - At the LaRusso's: ☆
"You two have been doing nothing but training for the past week." Mr. LaRusso smirks, feeling proud of himself.
"We've been doing nothing but chores at the dealership for the past week..." Robby blurts out, I slightly elbow him. "How the hell is this training?"
"Shh, he's probably getting to the good part." I can't help but smile. This is all so intriguing to me, and not even Robby's buggy attitude can bother me.
"Robby-" Mr. LaRusso calls out, "Come show me, 'wax on, wax off.'" Robby steps forward, a bit confused. As Mr. LaRusso throws a punch, Robby circles his hand to the right, stopping the hit in a perfect block. He does the same with the left arm. Mr. LaRusso begins to speed it up, Robby follows like it's nothing. All of a sudden, the 'wax on, wax off' becomes much more than a work chore that we're paid for, it's a self-defense mechanism. As Mr. LaRusso kicks and punches, Robby has nothing but this newly formed muscle memory, which was now coming out. Mr. LaRusso and Robby both freeze, staring at each other, Robby's face full of astonishment, then bowing.
"Wow-" I mutter.
"Ember?" Mr. LaRusso peers down at me. "Do you think you're ready?" I look at my hands and legs, nervous but never wanting something more. Fear strikes through me, but so does excitement. I look at Robby who looks skeptical.
"I'd like to try." I felt myself nod, getting up. I ignore Robby's fear and frustration, knowing I must do this for myself. At this rate, I'm not sure how much Mr. LaRusso has looked into my health forms or hospital records. I know he has access to them, seeing as I am now a part-time employee, but I'm not sure he realizes the severity of the issues... The asthma, the fatigue, low iron, the irregular heartbeat, and slightly weak, brittle bones. I stand up, pushing these thoughts in the back of my mind, trying to prove my strength.
