Soobin took a deep breath, as he approached Daehwi. They've been friends for years, he had no idea why it was so hard for him to just walk up to Daehwi, say sorry and call it a day.
Soobin grabbed the end of Daehwi's shirt, who was talking to someone, and tugged at it. Daehwi turned around, surprised.
Daehwi took one look at Soobin and smiled, "Soobin, you're like 6 feet something, acting cute isn't going to help."
Soobin frowned. "I'm not acting cute, I need to talk to you."
Daehwi turned to the guy he was talking with and said, "I'll talk to you later." and then he turned his attention back onto Soobin.
"I'm sorry." said Daehwi. "I overreacted big time, I get it. I'm also sorry for not apologizing first even though it's my fault."
"Hey! I was supposed to say that first." pouted Soobin. "But yeah, I get where you're coming from, it's valid to get angry but I think...he's not that bad."
Daehwi's eyes widened. "What? You're telling me Yeonjun is not bad? Are you conveniently forgetting whatever he's put your through."
"No, no, I'm not. I'm not saying 'Oh Choi Yeonjun's an angel right now, I was so wrong about him', what I'm saying is, I just don't hate hate him anymore. Or more like I don't care enough about him to hate him."
Daehwi raised an eyebrow. "He was literally clinging to you this entire trip."
Soobin shrugged and gave Daehwi a cheeky smile. "Who knows, maybe he's fallen in love with or something. I don't understand him, to be honest."
Daehwi shook his head. "I don't think I'd even understand what's going between the both of you."
Soobin turned and looked back at Yeonjun, who was chatting to a couple of girls with a drink in his hand. An unpleasant feeling washed over Soobin but he quickly brushed it away.
Even Soobin didn't really understand what was going on between them.

"Excuse me, excuse me" said Kai, trying to make it through the crowd of hungry students, waiting for their chance at some barbeque. He was just trying to make it to less crowded side of the arena but that also seemed like a huge struggle at this point.
Suddenly, he felt someone grab his hand and pull him away.
"Woah--" said Kai as he found himself being dragged.
"Just a minute."
Kai instantly recognized the voice. It was Taehyun. But why was he dragging Kai out here? If anything, Kai should be the last person Taehyun would have to talk to since Kai was going way out his way to avoid any interaction with Taehyun.
He wasn't sure on how strong Amatorians memory washing powers are. He didn't know if there could be some sort of rebound in those memories. And not to mention, Kai isn't someone who had ever used those powers until yesterday.
"Uh, hey. Taehyun-sunbae, right? Same room."
Taehyun stood in front of Kai, peering into his face. Kai looked away, slightly uncomfortable. Why did Taehyun want to talk to him?
"Right. Sorry if I randomly grabbed you. Um, I just wanted to socialize?" said Taehyun, awkwardly.
Kai didn't need mind-reading powers to figure out that that was a lie but that also didn't mean he could simply wiggle his way out of this situation. Whatever it was, he hoped Taehyun would get over with it quickly.
"Uh, sure..." replied Kai.
Taehyun scratched the back of his head. "I'm sorry, that was awfully random of me. You know, we're in the same room and what not and it kind of seems like the four of you know each other since before while I only know Yeonjun and that too barely..."
Kai's face instantly lit up. Oh! So that was what was on Taehyun's mind. Kai felt some of the anxiety dispel from his heart.
He gave Taehyun a wide smile. "Ah, it's not that big of a deal. I'm not really close to any of them either. I just know them by their names."
Taehyun raised his eyebrow. "I thought you said that uh...Beomgyu guy was your childhood friend."
Kai's smile instantly froze. "I thought you said socializing isn't your cup of tea."
Taehyun let out a chuckle. "Touché. Well, what about Soobin? Aren't you guys in the same department?"
Kai's face instantly calmed down.
Those two really have some bad blood, huh, thought Taehyun.
"Soobin-hyung? Yeah, I guess out of all of them I'm closest to him. He's been super sweet to me ever since I joined."
"Hmm, what about Yeonjun? What do you think of him?"
It took Kai a huge deal of willpower to blurt out the fact the thought Yeonjun's mere personality was a huge obstacle in their mission. If Yeonjun wasn't some twisted sadist, with a fucked up personality, they...no, Kai, could've completed this mission eons ago. Or maybe Yeonjun wasn't the problem but it was Beomgyu.
But obviously Kai couldn't say all of that. He just awkwardly smiled and said, "Well, I don't think he's the kind of person I'd get along with. But hey, you two are pretty close, right?"
Taehyun scoffed. "Pretty close, my ass. He's just a guy with no sense of personal space."
But I don't really hate that, I think, thought Taehyun.
Kai stared at Taehyun and smiled softly. "But you don't really hate that, right?"
Taehyun looked at Kai, surprised. "Can you read minds?"
"Ahahahah, of course not." said Kai, slightly panicking. He simply blurted it out based on what he felt from Taehyun.
"Even if I could...I wouldn't want to..." said Kai, his voice soft.
Taehyun tilted his head, confused. "Why not? Isn't it fun to read other people's thoughts? You can know what they're thinking, you can figure out whether they actually like you or not. I would love to have the power of reading minds. It could also help keep me out of nasty situation, you know."
"But reading other people's actions, other people's words, their expressions, their aura, their vibe, isn't that so much more exciting? Isn't that so much more human?"
Taehyun merely stared at Kai and smiled softly to himself. Even though it was his first time actually talking to this guy, Taehyun couldn't help but feel warmed up by the way he spoke. Optimistic, but not to the point of unrealism.
It was a silly thought, but Taehyun found himself thinking about what a wonderful human this man standing in front of him could be.
