Soobin was well-aware that his alcohol tolerance was very, very, very, low. And yet, whenever drinks were placed in front of him, he drank like there was no tomorrow. 

But Soobin wasn't going to do that this time. His juniors were also present at this drinking party and the last thing he wanted was to get absolutely wasted and tell the entire world he was gay. 

Like what he did to Yeonjun. 

Biggest fcking mistake of his life. If only that day he had decided to drink in moderation. But hey, he had just caught his lover cheating on him, a drink was kind of mandated if such a thing happened. But after getting out of one pinch, Soobin just had to find himself in another pinch. 

Soobin shook his head as he stuffed his hand in his pocket, attempting to take out his phone. Whatever, Yeonjun was history. A black spot in Soobin's timeline. Just another black spot like many others. 

Soobin : Daehwi, where tf are you?

Daehwi : oh, i won't be coming today. something came up. 

Soobin : huuuuuuuuuuuuh what 

Daehwi : my sis's cat went missing, im helping her find it. 

Soobin : her cat always goes missing! 

Daehwi : a cat is a cat, i have to help her 

Soobin : ig you have no choice, i'm keeping this against you thou 

Daehwi : fine, also 

Daehwi : drink in moderation, plz. don't do stupid shit. 

Soobin : what do you take me for?

Daehwi : ur a bad drunk, 

Daehwi : ok bye 

Soobin sighed at his phone as he stood in front of the restaurant where they were supposed to meet. It wasn't too late to run away, right? Soobin turned around in order to leave and let out a small shout seeing someone in front of him. 

Soobin didn't recognize him instantly but after wracking his brains for a couple of seconds, he figured out who this was. 

Kai, the junior he had personally invited. 

Soobin wanted to smack himself. Now how could he leave? He personally invited this junior and it wouldn't look good if Soobin walked out of the drinking party just like that. 

Kai gave Soobin a smile. "Ah, sunbae! What a coincidence meeting you here. I really hoped you'd be around because I kinda don't know anybody else."

Soobin's face brightened as he weighed his option. Well, what could he do? His cute junior was here only because of his and there was no way he could leave now, right? 

Because Soobin was the best senior around.

Kai came to the drinking party. Well, of course, he would but it did feel a bit bittersweet for him. While spending time with Soobin, who was a key target of their mission, would definitely benefit Kai rather than using other people, he also couldn't find a way to bring the law department to this drinking party. Cause Beomgyu was the one who was in the law department and if there was anyone who could do anything about it, it would've been Beomgyu. 

But no way was Kai going to ask for Beomgyu's help. Over his dead body. 

Kai was usually not a very prideful person. If he needed someone's help, he would politely ask for it and honestly, there was no concept of pride even coming into place. If you need help, of course, you would ask someone else. If they don't want to help, there's nothing you can do about it but it doesn't hurt you to ask someone for help when needed. 

So, the Kai who was here 2 weeks back would've definitely asked Beomgyu to help him, cause in this mission they were partners. Kai was well aware of Beomgyu's distaste towards him but to be honest, he didn't expect it to be this bad. And if Beomgyu was going to keep being an egoistic asshole, Kai was going to let him be. Kai was determined to let this mission succeed. 

"Let me pour a drink for you," said Kai, giving Soobin a smile. From what Kai knew, Soobin was a lightweight and all it took was a small amount of drink to get him absolutely wasted. Technically, Kai wasn't using any of his Amatorian powers and hence this couldn't be considered as manipulating him. 

Soobin looked at the drink that Kai had out to him. He gave an uneasy smile. So sweet of his junior to pour a drink for him but the problem was...Soobin didn't want to drink???? His drunken antics were the last thing he wanted to show Kai. Soobin stared hard at the drink and then sighed. One shot of Soju was definitely going to get him drunk. 

"Thank you," said Soobin and downed the Soju. Ah, how Soobin loved the taste of Soju. For the past two weeks, Soobin has been under so much stress, even more, compared to his exam period.

"How's mass media been for you so far?" said Soobin, looking at Kai. 

"It's been good. I'm glad I'm doing my bachelors in a subject I'm interested in."

"Were your parents forcing you to do something else?"

Kai blinked. How was he supposed to answer that? He hadn't really thought that much into his alibi cause he really thought he was just going to help Beomgyu. He didn't really think that he would ever have such direct interaction with his direct. He couldn't think up a lie. 

"My parents are always doing whatever they like. I doubt they actually stopped to wonder how things were for me," said Kai, not giving Soobin a direct answer but still giving him an answer nonetheless. 

And it's not like he lied either. 

Soobin gave Kai an understanding smile. "At least you're happy now, right?"

"Happy? Yeah, yeah, I am." 

"Then that's great. It might not sound like a piece of good advice or anything but you know, if everyone thought not for themselves but only for others, there's no way the world would move on. you have to be selfish. so, if your parents are being selfish, you can be selfish too. of course, i don't mean you have to hurt people with your selfishness but you shouldn't hurt yourselves being selfless either."

Kai smiled. Beomgyu would never get it. He would get the reason why Kai admired humans so much and why he would prefer to stay here rather than be at Amoretto. Amatorians was not selfish. Their sole purpose in life was to give humans happiness by finding them their true love and pairing them with each other. But Kai didn't want to live his life like that. He wanted to find his own love. How did other Amatorians never feel like that? How is it that despite seeing so many humans find their true love and be happy, they never wished for the same? Was Kai the weird one here wanting to find love?

This is why he never resents his parents for leaving him. All marriages in Amoretto are of course not due to love. They are simply done in order to produce an efficient Amatorian. But his parents married because they were in love with each other, they left Amoretto to live normally and were crazy in love. How could he ever hate his parents for simply being in love with each? And how could he be selfless when he also wanted the love they gave humans?

Kai was about to reply to Soobin when the door to the restaurant opened, letting a gush of cold wind blow in. Soobin visibly shivered as he turned towards the door. 

Both Kai and Soobin's eyes widened as three people walked into the restaurant, animated in conversation. 

No, this was supposed to be Kai's moment. 

 But what was Beomgyu doing here and that too with Yeonjun and Taehyun?
