"Do you hate me?" asked Yeonjun and regretted the words the second it came out of his mouth. This was the first time they were amicably hanging out and Yeonjun had felt that the vibe among them was actually good and this could've been a good chance for Yeonjun to score some cookie points in his favor but he just had to ruin it by asking such an obvious question. Fuck alcohol.
Soobin ran his finger around the rim of the cup, staring into the liquid in his cup. "Well, I have enough reasons to hate you, right?"
It was an expected answer but hearing it directly from Soobin still felt like a hard blow. Yeonjun wanted to bury himself under the sand. Why was his past self such a bully? The person he was right now could not fathom his own reasoning behind harassing Soobin.
Not hearing a response back from Yeonjun, Soobin continued, "First, you threatened to out me, then you had fun with toying with me, seeing the responses I gave each and every time. Like damn, god forbid a man is closeted. Seriously, Yeonjun, behaving like that is such a waste of looks."
Soobin was very clearly drunk at this point and was just rambling whatever came to his mind at this point. But drunk ramblings are often the truth is what they say. So, Yeonjun quietly listened although each word felt like a direct stab.
"And," continued Soobin, completely oblivious to the effect of his words on Yeonjun. Ironically, without even realizing, Soobin was getting his revenge by hurting Yeonjun with his words. "All of a sudden, you cut contact with me literally throwing me away after tormenting with me. And just when I thought this was over, I find myself at your house and boom you've done a complete 360."
Hearing his own actions from Soobin's mouth made Yeonjun realize just how ridiculous he had been. He had been behaving like a middle schooler having a crush for the first time. Well, if he was being honest, this was probably the first time he actually had a crush on someone. Maybe he felt it the first time he saw Soobin at the bar. An inexplicable attraction but Yeonjun's lack of experience in genuine emotions made him act that way. A complete dick.
Soobin took another shot. Yeonjun stretched his arm to snatch the glass away from Soobin. "Hey, that's enough."
Soobin pouted and Yeonjun felt his insides twist. He took a deep breath.
"No, I have a lot more to say."
Yeonjun still ended up taking the glass away from Soobin. "Yes, I'll listen. But that's enough drinking. You're going to start feeling sick soon if you don't stop now."
Soobin, feeling the nausea come up agreed with Yeonjun but didn't stop his rambling. "No, seriously though, what do you want from me?"
You. But Yeonjun merely kept his silence, playing his role as the listener this time.
"Everyone around me tells me to stay from you but somehow I found myself around you. Ever since the day I met you at the bar, it's like I've been tied to you by some unknown thread."
Soobin rested his chin on one hand and looked at Yeonjun, a small drunk grin on his face. "You don't think it's the red string of fate, is it?"
Yeonjun took a deep breath. This was driving him crazy. First, Soobin throws a jab of hurtful truths at Yeonjun and just went Yeonjun got used to it, he throws this kind of a flirty bomb on him. Was Soobin even remotely aware of the fact that he was flirting?
But Yeonjun wasn't the type of guy to let this chance go.
He extended his little finger out and gave Soobin a cheeky smile, "Maybe if we connect our little fingers, we'll be able to see whether the thread exists or not."
