Daehwi smiled at Kai, although his smile was a bit forced and awkward. He had sort of just assumed that Kai knew who he was.

"Ah!" said Kai. Despite being an Amatorian his ability to read the room and human emotions was better than most humans to say the least. "I didn't mean to call you that, Daehwi. I just saw my friend passing by so I ended up shouting his name."

Kai gave an awkward smile and coughed, "So, yeah. Soobin right? He, um, ended up missing the bus cause he woke up too late."

Daehwi's awkward smile dropped and his face turned into one of concern. "Oh, what? Is he okay? Does he need someone to pick him up? Why didn't he tell me..."

Daehwi had mumbled the last part of the sentence but Kai had heard it and pointedly decided to ignore it. From what Kai knew, Daehwi and Soobin had just made up after their recent fight and he did not want to be the person who instigated a fight between them again.

Kai also thought it was a better idea to not mention Yeonjun cause it was very obvious to tell that Daehwi didn't like Yeonjun. And for well, valid reasons.

If Kai was being honest, he didn't like Yeonjun either. If not for this mission, Yeonjun was the type of person he wouldn't get close to. Maybe because his personality seemed more suited for someone like Beomgyu and not for him. And also because, since he became close to Soobin, he also felt the same way as Daehwi and thought Soobin was too good for a guy like him.

But of course as an Amatorian, his insignificant opinions didn't matter. Fate above had determined that Yeonjun and Soobin were fated partners so as long as they completed the mission within the time period, there would be only be happy times that awaited them.

"I'm sure he's okay. He texted me saying he got onto a public bus. And...he probably texted me only because we both were in the same room. He doesn't want to worry you."

Daehwi sighed. "I'm always worried about him, regardless of any situation. But well, as long as he's fine. I'm sure he'll tell me about it when he's back. Thank you and you seemed to be in a hurry so I'm sorry for bothering you."

Kai shook his head. "Oh no, it was no big deal! Have a good night."

Daehwi smiled back at Kai and went his way.

Kai watched his retreating silhouette. Daehwi was such a nice man. If only fate had paired him and Soobin together, this whole mission would've been a cakewalk. But not only were they not paired but Daehwi was a grey who had a fated partner before but his mission had failed. A twinge of sadness tugged Kai's heart.

Thinking thoughts like 'the whole concept of fated partners or preset partners is absolute shit' would be a contradiction to his entire existence. But Kai still couldn't help but think that way.

Where are you?  heard Kai in his head. No doubt, it was Beomgyu. Kai promptly snapped into his senses. Oh right, Beomgyu seemed to be in a hurry as well. Even though they both hadn't officially resolved their fight, it seemed like the progress of their mission made them bury what had happened in the past.

Kai ran towards his apartment.

He wondered what was it that Beomgyu wanted to tell him.

----------------------------------------------------

Soobin stretched, getting off the bus. Fuck, that journey was so long and it didn't help that he couldn't listen to music during his journey.

Yeonjun followed behind, stretching as well but slightly less dramatic than Soobin. What a day. If it weren't for him being stuck with Soobin he would've reached home early.

Yeonjun sighed inwardly. Who was he kidding? He clearly didn't mind spending the whole day alone with Soobin. Sure, Soobin might have different opinions about it but Yeonjun was going to use the chance he was given to the maximum.

And not to mention, he was this close to kissing Soobin.

Obviously, he had kissed Soobin couple of times before but kissing Soobin after he had realized his feeling had a different feeling of anticipation. Not to mention, although Soobin was snarky and sassy towards him, he could sense the hatred and loathing had faded a bit over this trip.

"Soobin, I'm hungry." said Yeonjun as he watched the bus leave.

Soobin turned and looked at Yeonjun, suspicious. Sure, Yeonjun had apologized and his behavior had significantly improved but Yeonjun had toyed with him so many times before there was no way he was going to forget that part easily.

"What am I supposed to do about that?" said Soobin.

"I want to eat..." you "grilled pork and drink a bit."

Soobin narrowed his eyes. If he was being honest, that sounded awfully tempting. Although he had just drank the day before, today had been such a roller coaster that he felt the need to drink. He also had a gut feeling that if he went home this way, his thoughts would've been too occupied with Yeonjun.

"If you pay."

Yeonjun grinned. "I'm in."

----------------------------------------------------

"Ahhhh" said Soobin, smacking his lips as he put his shot glass down. "That feels good."

Yeonjun had to admit it as well. The food and drinks in this place was either too good or that they were too tired and anything tasted good to think or it was probably a combination of both.

"Surprisingly, I agree with you." said Yeonjun.

"What do you mean 'surprisingly', are you trying to pick a fight with me?"

Yeonjun rested his face on his palm as he used his other hand to fill Soobin and his empty shot glasses.

"Haven't I done that enough? I'm sick of that."

Soobin raised his eyebrow. "So you're aware, huh."

"Very aware."

Soobin could feel the alcohol getting to his head. He felt like there was too many thing in his head that was better left unsaid but at the alcohol was forcing him to spit those words out.

"An apology can't make up for what you did. I don't think I'll ever forgive you."

Even though Soobin was drunk, Yeonjun could feel the seriousness in his words. Even though the words stung he couldn't do anything about it. You reap what you sow.

"You don't have to forgive me..."

Soobin took another shot. The alcohol burned in his throat. "That's right. I don't have to. You have no idea how much you've hurt me. I know you're famous for playing around and doing that probably gives you an ego boost but why'd it have to be me?"

Yeonjun watched, silent. He really didn't have any right to speak. And if he was being honest, it wasn't like his personality took a 360 or that he's turned a new page in leaf. Inside, he still had the same twisted personality. It was just that he had genuine feelings for Soobin. That was the only thing that was different.

"Soobin, do you still hate me?" asked Yeonjun, softly.
