Beomgyu paced around the room, anxious. In an ideal situation, sending Soobin and Yeonjun together would've been the best opportunity ever. But Beomgyu had long come to the realization that Soobin and Yeonjun were far from Beomgyu's "ideal situation".
He just hoped things wouldn't get worse.
Beomgyu looked at the wasted Kai on the couch. Taehyun was in the kitchen, preparing something called a "hangover soup". Beomgyu didn't know what was the point of it but since Taehyun seemed adamant about making it, Beomgyu didn't object much. He also turned off Taehyun's thoughts for the time being. What was the point of reading them now anyways?
Kai groaned as he turned over the couch, still fast asleep.
Beomgyu's gaze was still fixated on Kai. A small, fleeting thought came over him. Has he been too harsh on Kai?
Beomgyu shook his head. What bullshit. Kai was the one incapable of his job and the last time Beomgyu remembered, he was an Amatorian, a cupid, not some babysitter of a brat who can't do his job, right?
"Are you mad at him?" said Taehyun, emerging from the kitchen with a pot of steaming hot soup in his hand.
Beomgyu frowned. Excluding the fact that he was 24/7 annoyed by Kai's existence, he didn't think he was mad at Kai. "Nope?"
"Funny," said Taehyun, placing the pot on the table. "I thought you'd be mad that he bombed your chance to talk properly with Yeonjun."
For a second, just for a split second, it didn't click for Beomgyu, he genuinely wondered what Taehyun was talking about and then it occurred to him. Oh right, he's supposed to be in love with Yeonjun.
"It's okay, opportunities will come by," said Beomgyu, trying to sound as optimistic and...as much in love as possible. Don't most people buy sappy romantic stories?
"Is that so?" mumurred Taehyun. "And you are completely fine sending Soobin and Yeonjun together. They kissed you know?"
"Well, even you did," said Beomgyu, blurting out his words. Oh fuck.
Taehyun glared at him, ice-cold. "And what about it?"
"Ahahaha, I didn't mean it like that. If he can kiss Soobin and you, then maybe, even I'll stand a chance right, ahahaha"
Oh jeez, this was all coming out so wrong.
Before Taehyun could say anything, Kai groaned, this time getting up.
"AHH MY HEAD," yelled Kai, clutching onto his head. "Where am I? Where's Soobin? Beomgyu?"
Kai looked around and stopped at the sight of Beomgyu. He immediately got up and hugged Beomgyu, mortifying the latter.
"BEOMGYUUU, I THOUGHT SOMEONE KIDNAPPED ME."
Beomgyu face-palmed himself. How ridiculous could this kid get?
"No one kidnapped you, you clearly aren't worth that much also. We're in taehyun's house, so I'd appreciate it if you behaved."
Kai blinked and, looked up at Beomgyu. He immediately retracted his arms from Beomgyu's waist and looked around awkwardly. Post-drunk clarity, aha.
Taehyun looked at Kai and then at Beomgyu. These two were clearly very new people in his life but something about them was very off.
It was almost as if they were trying to put their nose in everywhere. Well, his interactions with Kai were pretty limited but Beomgyu? Awfully weird.
And it didn't take a genius to figure out that Beomgyu was not in love with Yeonjun. Very obviously it was a cooked-up lie but for what? What purpose would these very normal-looking college students have in order to go to these crazy lengths?
