Daehwi overreacted. Big time. And he knew it. 

But he was just so damn frustrated! Why was Soobin always, always putting himself in situation where he was going to end up being hurt? Daehwi cares about Soobin and obviously, like any other normal human being, he didn't want Soobin to get hurt. But you know what, if Soobin was just going to ignore everything Daehwi's words and not place any value to whatever he said, fine so be it. Then no reason for Daehwi to speak to Soobin right. It's not like Soobin would listen. 

Daehwi let out a sigh. He was being petty and he was well-aware of that. Soobin is an adult and should be capable of handling himself (Except he clearly wasn't) so in that sense, there was no reason for Daehwi to involve himself. 

Daehwi nodded to himself as he came to a conclusion. 

He was going to have nothing to do with Soobin's love life. Soobin was free to do whatever he liked. 

Soobin would be the one pulling the strings in his love life.

"We're the one pulling the strings, Kai!" said Beomgyu, once again frustrated to the ultra pro max level. 

"But, this plan is going to involve so many people, it's ridiculous! Plus, you told Taehyun you're in love with Yeonjun?? Beomgyu, please make it make sense to me."

Beomgyu could see it. The change in Kai's attitude. More vocal. More defiant. Beomgyu a while ago would not have been able to tolerate this type of Kai but to be honest, as more and more time passed, he really couldn't afford to waste his time with stuff like this. His ego was bruised but for an Amatorian, a mission was 10 times more important than their ego. He'd rather die than have a failed mission on his record. 

Beomgyu let out a huge sigh and sat in front of Kai, "Okay, I'm only going to say this once so listen to me carefully. I need you. I know, ever since we entered Earth I've been nothing but an asshole to you but to be very honest with you, I can't guarantee that I won't be the same moving on. But those words will most likely be empty words thrown out of my mouth in anger. This mission is just like any other mission, just that it's timed, right? I know as Amatorians, we both don't want this mission to fail. Maybe if I had listened to you earlier, we wouldn't have been in such a mess but we can't change the past, right? So Kai, please, I need your help." 

Kai stared at Beomgyu, his mouth agape. Cooperation from the egoistic, self-centered Beomgyu? 

Kai raised an eyebrow. "You missed something in that speech of yours."

Beomgyu frowned. What did Kai mean...Oh. 

"I'm sorry. I can't say I won't act up again but for whatever I've done up till now, I'm sorry. 

"You better be." said Kai, cracking a smile. 

To be honest, he wasn't entirely convinced with Beomgyu's plan. There were too many people involved, too many loopholes. It was far from the perfect plan that they needed. But maybe, just maybe an imperfect plan was what they needed. 

An imperfect plan for an imperfect couple. 

Kai cracked his knuckles. "Tell me, what do I have to do?"

Daehwi did not come and talk to him. And that was when Soobin realized how friendless he was. Even though Daehwi and him were in different majors, Soobin or Daehwi, either of them always found a way to meet up during their breaks and free classes. They didn't really spend much of their free time apart from each other. Most of the weekends (when Soobin was single) was also spent in each other's house. 

So it was only when Daehwi was giving him the silent treatment, did Soobin realize how much of an important part Daehwi had in his life. 

But Soobin had ego and he didn't want to talk to Daehwi first. First of all, he didn't even do anything wrong? Soobin knew Daehwi was looking out for him and even Soobin knew that getting involved with Yeonjun was a recipe for disaster but was there a need for Daehwi to overreact like that?

"Sunbae!" yelled a familiar voice and Soobin turned around to see who was calling out to him. Much to his relief, it was Kai, the cute junior Soobin had the pleasure of knowing. Soobin was glad. Despite seeing his disgusting, drunken self this junior still chose to stick around. 

"Can I sit here?" asked Kai, polite. 

Soobin smiled. "There's no need to be so polite to me. Think of me as your friend. We're friends, right?"

Kai smiled right back at Soobin, although there was something nervous about that smile. as he took a seat in front of Soobin. "Thanks."

"Anyways, what brings you over here?"

"Oh. Right. Did you see the notice?"

Soobin tilted his head. "What notice?"

"The college excursion! To some random ass mountains."

Soobin frowned. College excursion? But it wasn't yet that time of the year. According to the calendar, the college excursion wasn't supposed to happen until a couple of months. 

"Are you sure?"

Kai smiled again. This time Soobin noticed the nervousness in his smile but he decided to let it slide. "Yep! Quite early, don't you think?"

"Awfully early" mumbled Soobin, glancing at Kai.

Taehyun stood in front of the college notice board which no one really checked. With everything available on the phone, Taehyun wondered why they even bothered updating this old-ass notice board. 

But Taehyun liked looking at the board. Gave him some sense of nostalgia, he supposes. 

Taehyun frowned. 

"Hmm, a college excursion at this time of the year?" said Taehyun to himself. "Now, that's new."

"Taehyun!" said Beomgyu, approaching the said man. Although Kai was very upset or discontent with the fact that Beomgyu had gotten Taehyun involved, Beomgyu couldn't just discard Taehyun like that. Maybe he could still prove to be of some use to Beomgyu. 

"Saw the notice for the excursion?" said Beomgyu, standing next to Taehyun 

"That I did alright. But I wonder..." said Taehyun, "Why would they keep it so early?"

Beomgyu just let out a small chuckle. "God knows. Anyways, why bother with such useless questions right? Just have fun!" 

It took Taehyun roughly 8 seconds to figure out. 

This Kai and Beomgyu had set this up. There was no other explanation for such an early excursion. He had always found their behavior suspicious and while he thought it was harmless and decided to just watch for a while, he had no idea that they would take such a drastic step. 

But what was their motive? Why were they doing this? They looked like two very ordinary human being?

Just why?
