The poor doctor slowly walked into her laboratory. She ran her hand across her journal, feeling sympathy and hatred equivalently. She took her hand away sharply, facing opposite of the mirror.

"It's over now... I know inside... no one will ever know. The sorry tale of Elizabeth Hyde... and those who died. No one must ever know."

Dr. Jekyll closed her eyes, tightening her hand into a fist, and placing it on her chest, then crossing her arms, drooping her shoulders.

"They would only see the tragedy. They would not see my intent. The shadow of Hyde's evil would forever kill the good, that I had meant..."

Dr. Jekyll placed her hand in front of her face slowly, questioning her morals and character.

"Am I... a good man?"

She looked at her other hand, which was shaking with fear. She placed them on the table.

"Am I... a mad man?"

She took a deep breath in, then sighing heavily.

"It's such a fine line between a good man and a—"

She heard a mischievous evil laugh from the covered mirror.

"Do you really think that I would ever let you go?!" interjected a familiar voice. This made a shiver run down Dr. Jekyll's spine, as she backed into the table, bracing for support. The very voice made her legs tremble in fear.

"Do you really think that I would ever set you free?! If you do, I'm sad to say, it simply isn't so... YOU will never get away from ME."

Jekyll trembled, watching the mirror's cover fall off of it. Hyde stood in the mirror, smiling back at her. Jekyll became wide-eyed and afraid, staring at the demon that lived in her very soul.

A sharp gasp escaped Jekyll as she heard muffled voices through the door, registering them as Mrs. Utterson and Poole, her butler. Poole called out to her.

"Mrs. Utterson, madam, asking to see you." Said Poole.

When Dr. Jekyll tried to answer, her voice was one that belonged to the demon instead of her.

"Tell her I cannot see anyone."

Dr. Jekyll gasped as she heard the voice, Hyde laughing lowly and chuckling from the mirror. Jekyll grimaced and winced in agony, grabbing at her breast that was placed over her heart. She panted heavily, doubling over as she slowly transformed back into herself. She placed a cupped hand over her mouth, choking on her sobs. She slid down against the wall, crying in agony and sheer hatred for the monster she has become.

"Thank you, Madam." Replied Poole.

"Jekyll! Can you hear me? I need to see you right now." Said Mrs. Utterson.

Dr. Jekyll refused to answer, biting her hand and shaking her head violently. "Utterson... please... don't."

Jekyll screamed at herself with her voice muffled again, her alternate personalities' voice had betrayed her.
