Other than the Toad Sage's beloved students of three, there's also another group of three who enjoy just admiring the youth. They are none other than the three old men, Kashii, Daisuke, and Inosuke. Or, in reality, known as Asuma, Shikaku, and Inoichi, respectively.

These three now old men in appearance, as they would've been if still alive, enjoy their interactions with the new generation of Ino-Shika-Cho. Always close in some way to them. Shikaku and Inoichi, especially fawn over their grandsons. Both the old men adore them to bits and just won't take their eyes off of them.

Shikaku finds a familiar peace seeing not only himself but also Shikamaru in the teen boy. All the "What a drag"s, cloud watching, yawns every now and then, laid back and observant behavior, taking in command with a lazy and monotonous voice while still in authority, was all too peacefully familiar. He's just glad the boy is what he expects yet still has an identity of his own. Must be because his grandson smiles and laughs and jokes around more than he and Shikamaru do.

They are also other traits he learned about Shikadai from their interactions, like how his mom is from the Hidden Sand, he's inherited Wind Style from her, has her eyes (clearly), is the Kazekage, Gaara's nephew, and that his cousin is adopted by the Kazekage as well.....So Shikamaru actually ended up marrying the girl he faced of for Chunin Exams huh. His best friend is Boruto, and he holds his teammates, Inojin and Cho-Cho dear to him.

Shikaku was most surprised by the boy's piercings, and when he questioned them, all he got was, "It's part of me in a way. I just like it." So he didn't find it strange at all if that's just something he likes. He could care less as long as the kid is doing alright.

As with Inoichi, it's just the same. Inojin's long blonde platinum hair, baby blue eyes, and fashion sense are all the same as his daughter. He almost mistook him for Ino if it wasn't for the difference in hairstyle and the fact the teen wears black. He further recognizes him as not just the child of his daughter and also someone else when he learns of his main jutsu.

The boy is into art, it seems. Drawing, painting, bringing life into his art, literally. He immediately recognized it to be Sasuke's replacement member, Sai's influence. That's just like Ino to take a liking to men like him. She clearly had a type. Thank all the gods his grandson uses the clan's jutsu as well at least, and from what he's gathered while talking to him, if his art is his main jutsu, then mind reading is his secret weapon. His backup plan, his last resort, when he knows he has to get serious. That assures him that Inojin has put enough thought when it comes to battle.

Other than that, he's noticed other little things that make his grandson. From the earrings that match his eyes to the matching platinum blonde eyeliner going into a wing. His main hairstyle (for missions he's assuming) of a bun right at the back of his head with the rest falling to his back, the black croptop and pants with his gadgets tucked in, a scroll with a brush always hooked behind his person, and those easy to slip in chinese shoes.

Let's not forget his behavior is just like Ino's. Since he's lean (but still has muscle), he looks like a fem boy whenever he finds a position to stand and listen to someone (yet it still looks manly). He flicks his hair, rolls his eyes with attitude, and puts his weight on one side of his hip. There's also Sai's mannerisms too, a deadpan face, being clueless sometimes, his skin tone is obvious (how did he not notice that first-hand?), quiet and doing his own thing– he's pretty bubbly and outgoing sometimes, now that's just like Ino.

He has enough character to get along with both his teammates. Although his best friend is Mitsuki, somehow. Curiousity took over from that information, as he seemed closer to Shikadai, so when he asked, his grandson replied with, "Mitsuki and I are very similar, there's no one else who matches my energy more than him. Plus, my relationship with Shikadai is more than just a close friend thing? It's difficult to explain in words. Words aren't even my thing. That's more like Sarada's. It's just...different, but not like my relationship with others in a very unique way. All relationships are a certain colour, and his is the only one in a completely different one from the others if u can see it like that. Get what I mean?" Inoichi finds the teen so similar and so different, so simple and unexpected, and he loves that unique colour he has in him.
