My eyes flutter open and I'm wedged between two hot, hard bodies. Damn, they smell good! But I need to go outside, so I use magic to blip myself from between them to the bottom of the bed. I stand there for a moment and watch them sleep until I feel it's time to move. I feel… different., though. Like I've been doing this forever.
I grab the necklace I got from my mum and slip it on, then I grab Kaiden's top off the floor. He seems to be rather sensitive to my actions regarding him, and I know Zye will be happy that it makes Kaiden happy to see me in it. I then blip down the stairs, and twirl around as I go through the back door and into the garden.
I feel compelled to check the street, so I walk out the front and look up and down the street, feeling eyes on me, but finding nothing, I head to the back garden. Seeing my dragon nest, and needing the space, I kneel and press my palms to it and it's covered in grass and wildflowers. I stand, happy with my work, and then I get to business. I dance around making a half circle, bigger than when I did Ember’s one, and the patterns are glowing with magic. I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm excited and enjoying myself.
Once it's done, I strip and ready myself to shift into my dragon, but only the right side starts shifting. I end up with scales over the right side, as Ember tries and fails to come forth. It hurts a little because I can't get the rest of me to do anything, so in the end, I give up and just lay on the line down the middle.
"Nyx! Where are you!?" I hear Kaiden's voice frantic in my head.
"NYX!" I hear Zye shout from inside. I lean up on my elbows as I wait for one of them to come out the door.
"Garden." I tell them both. Zye comes out first followed by Kaiden, followed by Corbin, Sage and my Aunt. They start growling when they see me naked, and I lay back with a roll of my eyes, and with a click of my fingers I'm dressed again. Then I can feel their eyes boring into me.
"What!?"
"Why did you leave the bed without telling us where you were going!" Kaiden growls. I look at them, and they both look at me strangely.
"I didn't want to wake you, and needed to come outside… Why are you looking at me like that?" I ask as Kaiden holds his hand out to me. I take it and he pulls me up into his chest.
"Your right eye is… Different." He tells me. I touch it like I would know by touch… Idiot.
"Different how?"
"It's iridescent," Zye tells me, stroking my face.
"What's this, Nyx? Looks like your nest, but half done. Where did your dragon nest go?" My Aunt asks. I turn to her and watch as Sage studies the half I have done.
"Umm… I don't know. I fixed the grass, to make that, but only did half. Then I tried to shift, but… Well, it didn't work. It actually hurt a bit, so I just gave up." I say moving toward them.
"Can't you finish making the circle?" She asks.
"No. I'm not ready yet." I say then turn to the house.
"What do you mean you're not ready?" Sage asks curiously.
"What? I can't shift, Ember isn't sure why, but I'm not worried." I shrug and walk into the house.
"Kulaas!" Kaiden growls.
"Kaiden!" I mimic and turn to see they've all followed me. "Ok, what?" I ask, putting my hands on my hips.
