David hit his back against the mattress. "It's rather lumpy," he commented as he and Fionnlagh made themselves comfortable in one of the better protected rooms near the chief's quarters.

"It's more comfortable than the bed I had as a child," the man replied as he finished lighting the fire.

David propped himself on his elbows. "Oh yeah. How was it like living through the Great Flood?"

"Watch it," Fionnlagh warned.

[MELODY]

A knock could be heard on the door before it opened and Moira walked in. "Be more respectful David." She said to the boy as she just walked in having heard the last part of their conversation.

Fionnlagh turned after the flames had began licking the large logs. "I was wondering where you've been. How is your new crew?"

[MELODY]

He could clearly see she had cried but she showed him a small smile. "They are doing fine, under the circumstances.." she was holding her hands behind her back holding the amulet tightly in one of them.

[GEM]

He could tell there was something on her mind so he asked, "What it is, lass?" in a serious way.

[MELODY]

Moira took a deep breath before she spoke again. "I need to talk to you..alone." She said as she turned to look at David. "Go look if you can help the others with something."

[GEM]

"Hey I'm the king around here. You can't tell me what to do anymore," David said with sass.

"Do it or you sleep like I did when I was a child," Fionnlagh threatened.

He shut his mouth and got up, leaving them alone and going out to his dragon to give them privacy...

[MELODY]

Moira sighed softly when he left. She said nothing and just stepped over to him gently grabbing one of his hands with her free hand before she placed the amulet in his hand. She then glanced up at him looking into his eyes. The emotion in her eyes when she did that told him enough.

[GEM]

His eyes widened and brows knit together in confusion before realization slowly set in. He didn't know what to say of course. But he had to look away from those sweet eyes to try and not become emotional. He hoped she wouldn't hate him for what he did and he just tried to make himself remain calm.

[GEM]

He looked down in shame, not saying a word.

[GEM]

As the silence lingered he finally said, "Moira let me explain..." gently but still not looking at her.

[MELODY]

Moira watched him not really sure what to do or say either. "..alright.." she said quietly as she tried not to get emotional herself.

[GEM]

He let her come inside and shut the door.

Sitting on the bed while the fire warmed the room, Moira held a small cup of water in her hands as Fionnlagh sat in the chair facing her. He was hunched over with his hands together as he looked for the right words. Starting from the beginning was the best way, he decided.
