Once I had eaten dinner, Xianniang came to my room again with the love of my life— something I find dear, and would sacrifice my life for.
My computer.
It took me all of my willpower to not jump out of my bed and hug Xianniang, and instead I shook her hand aggressively and wished her a merry christmas multiple times.
"Yeah, yeah, kid." Xianniang said, awkwardly patting my head. I quickly withdrew my hands when Watson pecked dangerously close to my fingertips. She then continued, "Don't overwork yourself, okay? Or I'm confiscating this for a week."
"But my GPA—"
"I don't care."
Realizing that I was talking to a brick wall, I gave her a "yes ma'am" of defeat.
"I need to head home now, but you take care, okay?" Xianniang said, "If you need anything, let me or your dad know!"
"Okay, thank you, Xianniang."
As soon as she exited my room and I heard her footsteps fade down the hall, I whipped my computer open and immediately entered my online school's website.
"As fucking if, I have an academics award to win—!!"
The door slid open, and I slammed my computer shut out of panic.
My dad, holding a handful of papers at the door, sweatdropped at my sudden outburst.
I laughed nervously. "Good evening, parental figure! Nothing suspicious here."
"...Good evening, problem child." He fixed the reading glasses that he wore, and pulled a guest chair to sit by my bed. "How do you feel? I'm sorry I couldn't visit any earlier, there was an incident with my work."
"I'm fine," I said, glad that he even found the time to visit. "What kind of incident?"
"Some important papers were stolen," He sighed, "But it's nothing for you to worry about. Rather, I'm here to clear you for the treatment tomorrow."
I curiously nodded. I've visited the hospital a few times before, but I've never seen my dad working before— so it piqued my interest.
"You're better with aqua magic, right?" He pointed at a small mark on the wall across from me. "Could you hit that with a controlled shot?"
"Okay!"
I first raised my hand like a gun cause I thought it would be funny, but I shivered at the memory of the few nights ago. The gun, pointed at me— I quickly changed my hand to an open palm instead.
The aqueous magic, which was finally clear and a concise sphere, hit the mark perfectly.
"Your blot levels have diminished drastically," Dad's eyes widened.
"Yeah, uhm," I stammered awkwardly. "They kinda went back to normal?"
"Since when?" He asked, taking ahold of the hand I just used. I felt his magic flow with my own, analyzing its state— it felt like needles pricking under my skin.
