Ope, it's been a minute since I updated this, huh? Work has been busy with Christmas being a week away now, so I'm gonna try to slam a chapter or 2 out for yall. This chapter is a lil juicy so enjoyyyy. Until we meet again!

(3rd P.O.V.)

Derek doesn't look up from the shard of glass in his hands as Erica drags a struggling Jackson down the steps. Isaac aids her in holding him still, and the alpha finally looks up.

It had been just over a day since Lyrica fell into a coma, and Derek immediately set to work at finding the creature that attacked her. After Scott saved him and Stiles at the pool, he finally figured out what the creature was. A kanima; a shapeshifter just like the werewolves, but wrong. After this realization, he immediately knew what had to be done.

"What happened to you on the night of the full moon?" He asks the teen, not in the mood to dance around the subject while his wife was unconscious and hooked up to machines instead of at his side.

"What? Nothing." Jackson pants. "Nothing happened."

Derek pins him with a look that genuinely scares Jackson.

"You're lying." He rests the shard on his knee, pulling on a pair of black leather gloves.

"No, wait. No, wait, I can... I can prove it." Jackson pleads, struggling once more but standing zero chance against the tense betas holding him. "I taped myself."

"You taped yourself?" Isaac chuckles, sharing an amused look with his father.

"Yes. It was the full moon. And maybe while you were curled in the corner having an existential crisis about turning into a monster, I was preparing for the so-called gift your big bad alpha promised me and what did I get? Nothing! You want proof? Let me get the video."

"No." Derek says after a moment of consideration where he only thought of how his mate's suffering could be caused by the teen in front of him. He picks up the glass once more, hands now protected. "No, I have a better idea."

"What is that?" Jackson panics as Isaac and Erica force him to his knees and pry his mouth open.

"You know, Jackson..." Derek says, walking up to the trio. "You've always been kind of a snake. And everyone knows a snake can't be poisoned by its own venom."

He tips the glass forward and allows the tiny drop of venom to fall onto the jock's tongue. The betas drop him, watching as he chokes for a moment before falling to his side, eyes wide in horror.

"You're still a snake, Jackson." Derek sighs, crouching down to be in his line of sight. "Just not the one we're looking for."

"So Derek wants this done during Chemistry?" Erica asks her taller packmate, bracelets jingling as they pass students to reach his locker.

"Yeah. And if it's Lydia, I'm gonna kill that bitch, all right? That thing hurt my mother and put her into a coma. It's not getting away that easy." Isaac seethes, he and Derek both having been on edge since the woman's accident. Neither of them had been sleeping well and Erica and Boyd had been practically forcing them to eat and drink to keep their strength.

"I'm on your side, but we have to test her first. What would Lyrica think if we killed some innocent person because we thought they hurt her?"

"Goddamn kanima." Isaac curses before the bell rings and they venture for their next class.
