"I just don't get it. Why doesn't he like using his powers? It would save a lot of time." Charlie ranted to the console as Star listened on the other end. "There's a whole thing to it, girl. I wouldn't mind it too much." Star said. Charlie leaned back in the chair. "Like?" She asked. "Well. If you really wanna know. Just... don't tell him I said anything." Star giggled. "Promise." Charlie smiled and leaned against the console.
"When we all started The Dark Core... we left him here in Orange. Ya know, before we turned it into a frozen wasteland. It was my idea. We all lost something. I believed that it was wise for him to stay in Orange, and try to live a normal life still. We all left for New York. But that's all another story for another author. AHEM! Anyway, I guess The Phantom was his fate. Regardless, he still became The Phantom and continued his own plans for two solid years before we regrouped and formed The Dark Core. He survived law enforcement, his worst enemies, the mob, and The Light Core. All on his own. WITHOUT powers he took Malgun and Lakar. He refuses to use a crutch. Only when it's absolutely necessary. I mean, he has his own black angel wings he could materialize. He got them after killing Malgun and Lakar. You really gotta hate a crutch to turn down the ability to FLY." Star explained.
"I see. I'm not sure if you know the answer, but... do you know why this world's Lucifer cursed him with immortality? Doesn't sound like a curse for humans..." Charlie asked. "Well... he doesn't know the answer either. But he has told Daniel and I his theories. He fights on his own, endlessly and without rest, so that we all can live. But with his curse, in the end, when it's all over, it'll mean nothing. He'll outlive us. He'll... watch us all die..." Diana explained.
"That's... that's just horrible..." Charlie said quietly. "That's how hell works here. Now do you see his hatred for demons with a little more clarity?" Diana asked. "Well... yes, I guess that makes sense. Still... He's taking on a whole lot on his own tonight. And limiting himself..." Charlie frowned. "I wouldn't be too worried. We got word that Vaggie is accompanying him to Nazaris Motel for his next clue." Star said. Charlie lifted a brow at this. "Really? He's letting Vaggie help? Why?" She asked.
"Umm, don't know? Maybe I'll look into it. Anyway, sorry, girl, I gotta go. Feel free to text if you'd like." Star hung up.
ICE WOODS.
Phantom and Vaggie were in his car, driving through the snow. "You've been quiet." Vaggie said from the left seat behind his. "Got a lot on my mind." Phantom said coldly. "Yeah. It's why you talk and let it out to lighten the load. What's up?" Vaggie asked. "I need to find Edge's right hand. Then he can tell me about Edge, and the rest of his plans. I got that, Edge in general. The assassins. And I got to keep an eye out on Seviathan..." Phantom groaned. "Charlie's ex? The prince punk ass? What's your deal with him?" Vaggie asked.
"Due to certain timings, I don't think he has anything to do with the current situation. So with that said, what's he up to at the tower while I'm not around? I have a bad feeling..." Phantom said with a hint worry. "Knight's pretty smart. If there is anything going on with a spoiled rich kid, I'm sure he'll handle it." Vaggie said. Phantom noted how Vaggie sounded like she brushed off the concern. So he wondered what she knew.
"Do you know?" He asked her. "Know what?" She asked. "Like... KNOW, know?" He asked confused. "What, Seviathan? I know he's a spoiled rich kid, a prick, and Charlie dumped him at prom. What else?" Vaggie said. "Uhhhh, ok. You know what? Let's just get this over with. He tried to rape her." Phantom said bluntly.
Out in the distance sat a large snowy mountain with thick snow built up on the top. "WHAT!?!?!?!?!?" She shouted as the snow violently broke off and fell down the mountain.
"OK! Well, I can't hear now!" Phantom said loudly as she shook his head while she held a look of pure hellfire. "What do you mean he tried!?!?!?" Vaggie shouted. "What!? I can't hear you over the ringing!" Phantom said as he shook his head. "What the hell are you talking about!? When did this happen!?" Vaggie growled like an animal. "Their night at prom. That's why she dumped him. Now you understand my distrust." He said. "Well no shit, sabelotodo!" Vaggie growled again.
LATER.
"This is it... Nazaris Motel." Phantom said as his car pulled to a stop in front of the vacant motel. "Alright, let's move. Now." Phantom said as the cockpit slid open and he jumped onto the snow. "Ah, for God's sakes..." Vaggie said quietly as she slowly stepped into the snow. "What's wrong with you?" He asked as he watched her shiver. "N-Nothing!" Vaggie said as she hid her discomfort. "You're freezing, ain't you." He laughed quietly. "That's what happens when you shove your ass into a SKIRT, and then walk out into the snow." He laughed again. "Uh, excuse you? I dress how I like. And incase you're blind, I'd say I look pretty good." Vaggie said as she gave a quick spin.
"Mhmm. In your rage to find Charlie's attackers, you didn't think to get a warm change of clothes, did you?" He crossed his arms. "...No..." Vaggie said embarrassed. "Ha, ha..." Phantom shook his head. "Shut up..." Vaggie punched him in his shoulder. "Now, woman, listen. If you're working with me, you're working under me. You will do as I say, and DEFINITELY NOT as I do." He ordered. "Hmm. Right. Let's just get this over with..." Vaggie said as she and him left in the direction of Nazaris Motel.
