11 September 1943

Elena wandered around in the corridors waiting for Orion to be done with classes. They were supposed to go to Hogsmeade together but Orion had forgotten that she had Care of Magical Creatures, and one could never be sure how long those lessons would last. Elena found her way to the garden, sinking into her robes as the colder air hit her face. After a week of rain she was happy to at least see some sunlight. She sat down and closed her eyes, she had so much work to do but all she could think about was Grindelwald and Dumbledore.

Her mother had apparently given up on her because of the rally that Rin had taken her to. Thinking about him made her skin crawl. Maybe she should've killed him herself for all that he had done. Then you had Abraxas, who was growing more and more distanced. Elena could feel his eyes on her every time she sat down next to Orion. She understood, he was trying to protect her sister, but with her mother already at Malfoy Manor it wouldn't be long before Grindelwald would find her and the Malfoys. Grindelwald... She wanted to talk to him again, ask everything she wished to know, every question that Dumbledore never answered. One question weighed above all, why had her mother abandoned her in that orphanage and never come back?

A shadow blocked her sunlight, "Hey Elena."

"What do you want Potter?" Elena wanted to be left alone.

"I am not coming in bad faith, can I sit with you?" There was an eerie tone in his voice, hesitant and unsure. Elena nodded. "I have to tell you something."

"Is everything alright?" Elena was genuinely concerned.

"I have heard things..." Charlus took a deep breath, "concerning you. Well, mostly from Black about how she is going to make you pay and ruin your life."

Elena cracked a laugh, "Honestly, let her try."

"Elena this is serious." Worry filled his eyes, "I know you don't care about whatever she says or does, but she is actively trying to destroy your reputation amongst the students. Look, some people came to me to ask about you. They were worried that you were dangerous, there are rumours that you attacked Black in the common room-"

"That again?"

"Wait, did you actually?"

"No," Elena rolled her eyes, "there was this one time last year where I just petrified her because she had her wand drawn to my neck."

"That is not what she is saying to everyone," he sighed, "All I'm saying is don't underestimate her, okay? I care about you, I don't want to see you get hurt. Especially after what happened with Rin last year."

"Can we please not talk about that?" Elena felt guilt rise in her stomach. Charlus genuinely worried for her, she even found that a bit cute. As she remembered what she had done to get the cloak her face fell. "Thank you for the warning, I know I can count on you."

"Tell me if you need anything, okay?" He stood up, "And maybe talk to Abraxas, he seems hurt by you. Or don't, I don't really want a strong Slytherin against me at the match this week."

"Since when has he been sharing his feelings with you?" Elena asked jokingly.

"That, my friend, is none of your business."

As he left Elena let herself be soaked up by the sun again. Anna couldn't do anything to hurt her, she was not nearly as powerful nor determined. That girl would trip on her own robe if she tried to chase Elena away. She spend a good thirty minutes about everything Anna could do, and how she would fail at every single one of them.
