Chapter Twenty-Nine
I woke up and went downstairs and saw mom making breakfast.
"Hey mom."
"Hey." She had red, puffy eyes. She has been crying,
"Are you okay?"
"I can't believe that Charles was Kate's father." I looked at the table,
"Yeah, hope she's okay."
"Go check on her." Then suddenly the door opened loudly,
"Simon? You okay?" He was panting,
"She's gone." Mom and I got up and walked over to him,
"What?"
"Simon talk!" I said, gripping his shirt,
"She told me last night that she was going on a run and now she ever game back."
"What?!" I roared. Mom gasped,
"You think she ran away."
"I think so." Simon said.
"We have to find her." Mom said, tossing Carter her car keys and pushed us out the door,
"Let's go!" She said.
