Cameron's POV

It had been a week since Tessa's death and Wren had been constantly busy with her new case. It was very clear now that Tessa didn't kill herself. I couldn't help but be relieved. I hadn't always been good to her and the possibility that I made Tessa's life a living hell made me sick.

Luckily her death was not my fault. I did see Tessa at the party but I did't speak to her. She wouldn't have spoken to me anyways. After I left her last year she'd hated me.

My innocence was one problem solved, but Wren proved to be a whole other problem. She was getting in way too deep with this case and I was worried that she was making some dangerous enemies. I tried to be with her as much as possible just to ensure her safety, but it wasn't easy.

Today, I was going to her dorm just to be with her. I missed her even though I'd been with her everyday. She just wasn't herself.

When I got to her room, I knocked and waited for her to answer. I hardly had to wait at all.

"Hey!", she said when she opened the door. She came at me and kissed me passionately before I could greet her in return.

"Hi", I said breathlessly after our kiss. "You're chipper today."

"I decided to take a day off", she said.

"Day off of what?", I inquired.

"Case work", she said as she sat in her desk chair. "I have a criminology paper to write anyway so I thought a day off was in order."

I was almost excited. The two of us hadn't spent quality time together since Tessa's death happened and a day off what exactly what we needed. "What's your paper on?", I asked.

"Planning the perfect murder", she said with a hint of amusement in her voice. "Ironic, right?"

"Tragically ironic", I answered.

"Anyway, it should only take me another hour. When I'm done, you wanna go somewhere?", she asked.

"Of course", I replied, making myself comfortable on her bed. I pulled out my phone to play a game. I didn't have any social media anymore.

After I got accepted into Millennium last year, Wren and I agreed to make sacrifices for our relationship. I sacrificed my celebrity life. As a result, I deleted all my social media accounts to prevent being sucked into the Hollywood lifestyle again. After all, it had destroyed me in the first place.

That didn't stop the press from wondering where I had gone. There were articles constantly popping up that explained people's theories about what happened to me. Nobody guessed I had given up my old life for love.

"So Wren, where do you want to go when you're done with your paper?", I asked."

"I was thinking Starbucks. Remember how we met there?", she said referring to the first time we met. I had payed for her drink and had the barrista put my number on her cup. I have to admit, it was pretty smooth.

"How could I forget?", I asked, smiling.

+ + + + + + + + + +

An hour later, Wren had finished her paper and we were getting ready to go to Starbucks.

"What made you think about the first time we met?", I asked Wren who was touching up her makeup in a little mirror on the desk.

"I'm not sure", she answered. "I've just been feeling nostalgic lately."

"Fair enough."

She was putting lip gloss on now and I couldn't help but wonder why. She was so pretty without it.
