CHAPTER 20: 500 YEARS OF SOLITUDE

The Door Room

Turned out that while Natalie was having the time of her life with cuddling with Stefan, Katherine had gone through something she honestly couldn't care less about, and then there was something slightly more important to her. Damon and Elena broke up, and quite dramatically, she'd heard.

And so she had been recruited by her best friends to drive back to campus and be a supportive sister when it came to their break up, which she had shown by getting there in time for Elena's special breakfast, as Caroline tried to wake her up. "Okay. Time to wake up, sleepy head."

But Elena was clearly not up for that as she tried to bury her face back in her pillow in protest of the torture known as waking up. "No. I'm not leaving this bed."

Then the reincarnated vampire tilted her head at her annoyed sister and spoke up sharply as she just wasn't having Elena's current attitude. "Elena, I drove two hours for you to get this stupid breakfast. Wake up!"

Elena groaned as Bonnie ripped her covers away from her and she was forced to pull herself up to look at the girls, only to find a tray of food in front of her as she frowned. "What's all this?"

Even if the situation was far from joyful, Caroline found a reason to smile widely as a comforting look had taken over her face as she looked at Elena's obvious still heartbroken face. "This is your breakup breakfast!"

"My what?"

They had started eating as Elena tried to elaborate a little more on what had really gone down between her and her current ex-boyfriend so they could at least get a better understanding on why she would refuse to get out of bed after their break-up.

But Bonnie hadn't heard Elena make any plans to get back together with her probably least favorite person in the Mystic Falls gang. Definitely her least favorite person. "So that's it? You're giving up?"

But unlike the anchor to the other side, Caroline was a little more pro-break up and simply looked at her as if she was crazy for even suggesting them getting back together. "As she should! He did say, and I quote, I'm a bad person. I am bad for you. And I'm choosing to let you go."

The vampire doppelganger tilted her head in surprise at how the blonde was able to perfectly recall something she wasn't even there for. "You memorized my break up?"

"Of course she did, she's Caroline," Natalie smiled at her best friend affectionately before handing Elena a drink she had prepared. "Mimosa?"

The newly single brunette grabbed the drink happily and drank it as quickly as possible before trying to keep being realistic when it came to the situation. "I just have to face reality. When Damon makes up his mind about something, it's done."

But then Elena's phone rang from their dresser, making Caroline quickly walk over to see who was calling when she was going through such heartbreak. "It's Stefan."

"Tell him I don't feel like talking." Elena mumbled to Bonnie in annoyance as she didn't really feel up for talking to her ex when she just got a new ex, who also happened to be his brother. Fun.

Bonnie turned over to Natalie to repeat the command dutifully. "She doesn't feel like talking."

Natalie decided to follow up as she turned to the blonde vampire holding the phone with an expression that clearly said that she kinda wanted to laugh at how they spoke through one another. "She doesn't feel like talking."
