Justice:
I stay close to Jake's side as we walk to Emily's house. I don't want to admit it, but the guys kind of scare me a little. I'm not ready to be in a house full of wolf boys.
"hey Jake?" I say
"yeah?" he smiles looking down at me
"I think I need to be getting home." I'm totally lying but the wolf thing is overwhelming, "my mom might be worried." Lie.
"Are you sure?" he asks sadly
"yeah. I don't want to stress her out."
"okay. I'll take you home." he smiles
"my car is at your house. I can just walk to your house from here and then drive to mine." I say
"hell no. Especially not with the rogue vamps infecting the Rez." he says angrily
"vamps?" I question
"Shit." Jake mumbles under his breathe
"Vamps as in vampires??" I say, my voice getting a little higher
"Yes." Jake says, "That's why we turn into the wolves. To protect the people from the bloodsuckers."
"Oh my god." a wave of panic shoots through me.
"Don't worry JJ." Jake coos, "I'll protect you."
"But what if you get hurt??" I'm really starting to freak out. How much do I not know?
Jake just laughs,"Yeah right. They can't hurt me."
"Does Bella know about this?"
Jake pulls me close and rests his chin on my head, "Yep. She used to date one. It didn't bother her at all."
"You mean Cullen?" I say quietly, realizing that the vampires could be all around us and I would have no idea, "Cullen was a vampire and I had no idea. They could be anywhere."
Jake laughs again, "I can smell them babe. If there's vampire anywhere near you, they're going to wish they were never born."
"Okay." I whisper
"Hey Jake!" Sam calls
Jake and I turn to face him
"You, me, and Paul have patrol until 6 tonight. Justice and Bella are free to stay with Emily if they want." he says
"Um no thanks. I need to get home." I smile
"Well you're welcome anytime." Sam smiles, "Embry can drive you and Bella home."
This is the first time I've ever enjoyed Sam's company to be honest.
Bella and Embry walk out to get in his car.
"Bye Jake." I smile
"Jay wait." Jake calls as I start to walk away
"yeah?"
