"Hello mi Amiga," Daya my best-friend says from across the street to me. I laugh.

"Buenos Dias mi Amiga," I say walking down the stairs as she crosses the street.

"Ah summer never felt better on my American skin," Daya says.

I laugh and roll my eyes. "Dramatic Daya as always," I hug her.

"Theatrically. Dear," She curtsy. Daya wants to be an actress and star on Broadway.

"Hey Daya, Maria," Lawrence says as he begin to walk with us. I smile.

"Hey creep. Don't walk up on us like that," Daya says to Lawrence.

Daya and Lawrence has known each other since childhood from the age of seven in daycare to now.

"Hey light skin," I joke.

"Hey Hispanic ballerina," Lawrence teased.

He always had to say something about my dancing in belle, hip hop, choreography and basically any type of dancing I could learn. I go to every workshop and class available in Houston, Texas at my dance studio.

"Mad you can't dance like me,," I tease.

"I could take you at hip hop and choreo any time of the day or night," He says.

"I'll take you up on that offer soon," I say. He laughs.

"Stop bickering you two. Always arguing and teasing each other." Daya says motherly, making Lawrence and I laugh.

"Now y'all decide to get along," Daya smiles. Lawrence gets between us.

"Where we going," He asks putting his arm around Daya's shoulder.

"We're going to the track at the Rec. center and then I'm gonna go home, leaving you guys," I say pointing out my purple tank top, black shorts and Nike's.

"So you're only working out this summer ain't dancing keeping you in shape," Lawrence says.

"Yes but, running keeps me from getting sore while dancing. Amature," I say to him.

"Hey I just started last year, you've been dancing for forever," He says. I smile nodding.

"Yup, since five years old," I brag.

"I can't wait to be able to drive," Daya interjects.

"Yes," Lawrence agrees.

"You guys its only two streets away. Lazy bums," I shake my head.

"Whatever," Daya says.

We walk silently to the Rec the rest of the way. When we stop at the start line, I begin to stretch.

"How many laps?" Lawrence ask stretching with me.

"How ever many you can possibly do. At least three to five or four to eight." I say since the track is half a mile. I jog in place and do twenty jumping jacks and I'm ready.

"On your marks, get set, go!" Daya says making me laugh.

"Ahh no! Your running too, remember? You promised this summer you'd run with me to exercise." I say to Daya.

"Okay," Daya says walking to my right side and Lawrence on my left.

"Marie," Daya says quickly. Daya's the only person that calls me Marie and mostly when she's nervous or wants to talk about something serious.

"What's up Zendaya," I say her full name.

"I might be going to Florida for only a month, this summer," She says quickly. I stare at her in shock.

"We had plans, what months Daya!" I ask upset and sad.

"July or maybe June, I gotta check with my mom. It starte with a J for sure though," She says unsure, I sigh.

"Now all I have to do this summer is dance workshops, dance camps, WOD (world of dance) and track by my self. What will my summer be," I say dramatically.

"Lawrence will keep you company." Daya says.

"No!" I whine. Daya laughs.

"Aye! I ain't that bad to be around or annoying," Lawrence says defensively and he stands behind me putting me in a headlock. I stomp his foot hard enough for him to move his legs but not hard enough to hurt him and elbow him in his rib cage so he could let me go. He laughs.

"Tough," He says resting his chin on my shoulder and hands on my waist. I don't know why but something about this position he's in makes me smile and a little nervous.

"Don't get all touchy feel-y with my best-friend perv," Daya says.

"Two cute Hispanic people don't need to be touchy feel-y that's all to much scenery right there," Daya adds. Lawrence and I laugh and he steps away from me.

"I guess I could make him my servant for the summer, while your away," I say rubbing my hands together mischievously.

"Nope. I'm going with Daya," Lawrence says arm around her shoulder.

"Right Zen," Lawrence asks.

"Nope I'm leaving you here with my girlfriend bro. So I need both my beast friends bro and sis to take care of each other, no trying to kill each other. Okay? Understood," Daya ask.

"Yes mama Daya," We salute her. She rolls her eyes and laughs.

"I'm ready to run some track," I say standing in my line.

"Okay Miss. Athlete," Daya says. I roll my eyes this time.
