Rayne's pov

Weeks have gone by since I've been at Terminus. I've adjusted well, becoming comfortable in my position, although, I'm not very happy with it. I'm grouped with the kids, forced to do school work. They took my arrows away, and I haven't seen them since. I have nothing to protect myself with if somehow walkers got into Terminus. But, doing school work is better than dying out in the wilderness.

"Heya Rayne, ready to go to defense class?" My new 'friend' Kaylee asked. Kaylee has been here since the beginning with her parents, she's never even seen a walker before.

"Uh, yeah. I'll be there in a minute." I told her, lacing up my boots that Gareth gave me. I walked to defense class, late as usual.

"Rayne, we've had this talk before-"

"Yeah yeah, this will 'only make me better'." I said using air quotes around the last few words.

"Well, at least you listen." Mary rolled her eyes. Mary was the main chef at Terminus, and she also helped teach the fifteen kids. I sat down beside Kaylee, and let my mind wander as Mary talked about how to handle a firearm.

I wonder where the rest are? If they made it out, and if they're looking for me. It's been almost two months, and each day gets easier, but I can't help but miss my mom, Carl, Daryl, Rick, Beth and the rest. I miss them, and that will never change, it will only get easier to cope with.

"Rayne." Mary snapped me out of my daydream.

"Yes?"

"As I asked, how would you go about shooting under pressure?"

"Well, you should keep a level head, don't get too stressed, which can be difficult. Then, just aim and fire." I said, rubbing my hands together.

"Very good." She said, and went back explaining how the safety worked. Why am I even in this class? I already know everything about handling guns. I sighed and waited until this was over, then I had some free time until the communications class started.

"Mary. We need you." Gareth said, and Mary quite literally dropped the gun and ran to Gareth. They walked out, whispering about something I don't care about.

"Well, I'm out." I said and left. There's no reason to stay there if no one is going to cover for Mary.

"Wait." Kaylee said catching up with me. "Rayne, I, I wanted to ask you something."

"Yeah?" I stopped walking and looked towards her.

"Where did you come from?" She asked me.

"Well, I was with a group, really the best people out there, but there was one person, who couldn't accept the fact that a part of his life was over, and he destroyed our temporary home." I said, not wanting to go into much detail with Kaylee.

"Destroyed? Like, vandalized?" She asked and I laughed a little, my smile fading.

"Uh, yeah, in a way." I said, and continued walking towards my room.

"What was your group like?"

"They were the best people, my mom, Carl, Rick, Glenn, Daryl, Beth, all really good people, but, I haven't seen them in a month or so, I don't even know if they're alive or not."

"Woah, that's terrifying. I couldn't imagine living without my mom." She sighed.

"Yeah.."I trailed off, not wanting to bring up bad memories.

"Well maybe they're looking for you, maybe they'll come here." Kaylee said in a sickly upbeat tone.

"I, I don't know. I can only hope." I told her, hoping she'd get the hint that I didn't want to talk about this subject. I opened the door to the building my room was in and walked in, Kaylee hot on my heels.
