Rayne's pov

"Rayne, you can't just sit here all day long."

"I can, and I will, until I know he's ok."

"Denise told you he's going to be fine." Kaylee said, crouching down in front of my face, making me look at her.

"I'm fine, Kaylee."

"You're not ok, you haven't eaten in three days Rayne."

"I'm fine." I said in a stern tone.

"Fine." Kaylee said and walked off in a rush.

I leaned on my elbows, looking at Carl who laid on the bed, seemingly lifeless. Denise had left for a little bit, and I was left alone in silence. Carl had his left eye shot out, and luckily that's all that happened, the bullet, if aimed three inches to the right, would've ended his life.

I feel no shame when I say I didn't attend Ron's funeral. I attended Jessie's and Sam's, although we had nothing to bury from them. As Ron's funeral began, I shook my head and walked away, leaving some people questioning me, but I didn't have to answer to them.

Rick had been by once a day, and he wishes he could stay longer, but, he is the people's leader and he has jobs to do to keep everyone in line.

And the whole 'leader of the youth' thing had been put on pause, seeing as how three kids had died. I now was responsible for Kaylee, Dean, Enid and Carl, and that wasn't hard.

I heard footsteps outside of the room, and figured Denise had come back, but Rick showed himself, shutting the door behind him.

"Rayne." He said in a tone that held both sadness and exhaustion.

"What?" I blandly asked him.

"You can't stay here the whole time, it's been three days." He said, and I figured Kaylee had told him what I was doing.

"I can Rick." I said, getting tired of people.

"No, you can't. It's been three days and you haven't eaten, you haven't done anything. Follow me." He said, and with a sigh, I followed him, knowing if I didn't there would be consequences.

He led me to the house, and shut the door behind me.

"Go clean yourself up, I'll send Michonne here to make sure you don't run out. You're going to eat something and then you're going to check on the kids." He gave me orders and I nodded.

I went up to my room, and opened the door. I looked to the bed with sorrow, and then over to the wooden dresser in the corner. I grabbed Carl's baseball tee I had borrowed a week or so ago, along with a clean pair of jeans.

I took a shower, thoroughly cleaning myself. I went downstairs after the shower, and saw Michonne standing in the kitchen. She looked at me with love filled in her big brown eyes, and my bottom lip quivered.

"Come here." She said and I ran into her arms. I had never let myself express my inner emotions after that night. I had bottled everything up, and I guess the pressure became too much, and I exploded once I saw Michonne.

"You'll be ok." She whispered to me as my tears soaked through her shirt.

She let me work myself through my breakdown, and after I had composed myself enough, she sat me down at the kitchen island and handed me some food.

"Eat up, you've been starving yourself." She softly said and I nodded.

Michonne just knew how to deal with people, she was good at it. She knew what I needed to hear and how to deal with me.
