Rayne's pov

"What I'm proposing, I know it's risky, but there are walkers slipping through the exits. One of the trucks keeping the walkers in could go off the edge any day now. Maybe after one more hard rain, and that exit, lets them out east. All of them, right at us. This isn't about if it gives, but when, and it's going to happen, soon." Rick said at a meeting, just days after the whole meeting.

Carl still hasn't said a word to me, he doesn't even look at me anymore. And here we both were in the conference about a walker buildup, me by Rick's side, and he all the way on the other side in the back. I look at him, knowing he won't look back, he's been spending time with Kaylee and Dean now, he rarely visits Enid I've noticed.

I was told the day after that Enid only had a bruised rib, and nothing too severe. That was good, in my opinion, because if I had done severe damage, the meeting may have gone a different way. I still can't stand her, don't get me wrong, but, I just don't want to kill another person unless necessary even though I was tempted to end Enid.

"I worked on the walls, maybe I can help build something around this."Carter, one of the Alexandrians said.

"We do what Rick says." Deanna finalized. Rick nodded and told everyone the plan, each having some type of duty except the young and the old. I didn't pay attention to the plan because I don't have a job. It was agreed that I stay inside the walls under supervision for at least a week. However, Rick was promoted it seems, leading a huge mission only days after he beat Pete, and shot Deanna's husband.

"I'd like to help as well." Gabriel said, only to be immediately denied. It was comical to me that Gabriel would try and help after he said we weren't trustworthy.

"We go for a dry run tomorrow." Rick said, and one by one, the meeting disbanded. I hung around for everyone to leave, not sure who is supposed to watch me.

"Uh, go with Daryl today, even if he does go outside." Deanna told me, and I nodded.

I shut the door behind me and looked around for the preparation group. I spotted the familiar angel wing vest and made my way over there.

"Deanna told me I was with you today." I said as I approached him. He nodded and turned his attention back to Rick.

"We're going to go out and make sure the walls we put up are secure, wouldn't want any to find a weak spot." Everyone mumbled in agreement as we exited Alexandria.

"Here, you might need this." Daryl said, holding out a knife to me.

"I'm not allowed to carry." I said and he shrugged.

"Who gives a shit?"

"You're supposed to be my parole officer, not a bad influence." I smiled as I took the knife from him anyways. Deanna would never know, and the people out here trust me for the most part.

"Well, I don't want you to die out there." Daryl said. Rick fell back with us and gave me a stern look.

"What?" I asked him and he looked down to the knife.

"You know you're not supposed to have that." He said and I shrugged.

"So? I'm not going to hurt anyone."

"Rayne, it's the principle of the thing. Give it back to Daryl." I rolled my eyes, and reluctantly gave the knife back.

"My blood's on your hands if I die." I said and Rick smiled at me,

"Well it's a good thing you won't." I smiled.

We walked for three miles down to the big metal walls.
