Rayne's pov

The sun shining through the thin curtains woke me up. I shifted around, wanting to sleep in for a few more minutes. Carl's arm was draped over my middle, and the events from last night brought a small smile to my face. Sure, some people will still think we're too young, too irresponsible, but, I know for a fact that we love each other unconditionally.

There was no risk of me getting pregnant either, he pulled out. Usually I enjoy morning cuddles, but today, it was mandatory.

I felt him move behind me, and his lips met the back of my head.

"Good morning, beautiful." He whispered, and I rolled over to face him.

"Good morning." I smiled, and looked into his eyes, seeing nothing but happiness. He rested his head atop mine, and I buried my head into his chest.

"Carl?" A voice from the hallway asked. My eyes grew wide, and so did his. We both rolled out of bed and hurried to get dressed.

"I need a new shirt." I said, wrapping the sheets around me.

"Why?" Carl frantically whispered.

"I used this one to, you know." I said and he nodded, getting what I was hinting at.

"Here." He threw one of his baseball tees at me. My shirts had just been washed, so I needed to pick them up.

"Carl, Rayne?" The voice asked again, and Carl went over to the door and opened it just as I pulled the shirt down.

"Why'd it take so long? You two are usually always up by now." Rick said, and I tried to stealthily kick the dirty shirt under the bed, but Rick caught it. Trying to casually play it off, I stuck my hands in the back pockets of the jeans I had sloppily put on.

I looked down and noticed the zipper was undone, so I shamelessly zipped it. Rick looked between us, eyes squinting. I looked over at Carl and saw a big purple bruise on his neck. My eyes went wide with surprise, and Rick must've seen it because he questioned me.

"What was that for?" He skeptically asked, and I shrugged,

"Thought I saw a, uh, spider." I stumbled. Rick stepped over to his son, and looked him up and down. It didn't take long for him to spot the purple bruise.

"Where'd you get this at?" Rick asked him, and Carl furrowed his eyebrows,

"Get what?" He asked clueless.

"This." He grabbed Carl by the bicep along with me and brought us downstairs. Rick sat us down at the table and grabbed a small mirror Jessie had left over here. Carl grabbed the mirror and looked over himself, stopping at his neck.

"I don't know what this is." Carl blatantly lied. Rick rolled his eyes, and said.

"I'll be back." Rick closed the door behind him. I turned to look at Carl and said,

"We are so dead."

"Hey, what happened happened, and I wouldn't go back to change a thing." He smiled and I nodded.

"How do we explain I'm not going to get pregnant without, you know, being weird?" I asked, not feeling comfortable about what Rick was going to ask us about.

"We just tell it like it is." He shrugged. We sat in a comfortable silence, waiting for Rick. I tapped my nails on the wooden table.

The door opened quickly, and in walked in Rick and my mom. I shared a scared glance with Carl and he grabbed my hand.

"You don't touch her." My mom demanded. Carl let my hand go, and my mom paced around the floor.

"Rick, you better start this off." She said. Rick ran a hand over his stubble and sighed.
