Rayne's pov

"Come on babe, wake up, it's time for dinner." Carl's soft voice woke me up. I sat up and rubbed my eyes,

"What time is it? How long did I sleep for?"

"It's right around five, you slept the whole day." Ron answered, looking up from his magazine.

"Why'd you let me sleep all day?" I asked Carl and he shrugged.

"You looked comfortable."

"Now I'm not going to be able to fall asleep tonight." I yawned.

"Well, I know something we could do." Carl whispered, making sure to not let anyone else hear.

"I don't think so. Not two nights in a row." I softly laughed. Carl stuck his bottom lip out in a fake pout.

"Why not? We both loved it so, so much." He helped me to my feet.

"Because I don't want you to think you can just get it anytime you want." I straightened my shirt.

"Fine, but you know we may be separated when Daryl gets back."

"He'll probably pat you on the back, if we're being honest." I smiled and started down the stairs to get ready for dinner.

"Not if he thinks you're going to get pregnant."

"True, have fun explaining that." I laughed.

"Why don't you explain it?"

"Not my fluids."I laughed and he shook his head. We walked hand in hand down the street and back to the house. He opened the door for me, and the smell of something amazing hit my nose.

I walked into the kitchen and saw Rick, Carol, Dean, and Kaylee all sitting around the counter.

"Where were you two?" Rick questioned.

"I fell asleep at the hang out house." I answered, but Rick cocked an eyebrow skeptically.

"Are you sure you two weren't going for round two?" I just stared at Rick unimpressed, while Carl shook his head. Carol set her wooden mixing spoon down and put her hands on her hips.

"What does he mean by that?" She sternly asked us both. I looked to Carl, and he looked to me.

"Well, you see, when a guy loves a girl-" Dean was cut off by Carol.

"I want them to say it."

"We had sex, ok?" I got it out there and out of the way. I was getting tired of people blowing this out of proportion. Carol nodded and smiled,

"Well, just be careful, I wouldn't want you to get pregnant now. Just be safe." She picked he spoon up and began stirring the pasta around.

"I need a shower." I said and went upstairs.

"Oh, before I forget, Carl, could you go pick up my clean shirts from Jessie? She said she would keep them for me." I called down the steps.

"Yeah." Carl called back.

I opened the door to my room, and looked at the bed, remembering all the details from last night. I grabbed a clean towel from the closet, along with a clean set of underwear, and headed to the bathroom.

I quickly got in, the thought of pasta distracting me from actually doing anything productive. Once I stepped out, the cold air engulfed me. I quickly got dressed and combed through my wet hair.

I went back over to my room, and saw the small pile of clean shirts. I picked up my sleeveless flannel from the first week, and quickly put it on, folding Carl's baseball tee I borrowed.

"It smells amazing." I said and walked into the kitchen. I grabbed a bowl and joined the rest in the dining room.

"So, how'd your day go?" Carol asked Rick who swallowed his bite before saying,

"Got the wall reinforced in the problem spots with Tobin. How about you?"

"Well, did some laundry, cooked some food, the usual." She sighed, and the sound of clinking forks against bowls filled the room.

"How about your day?" Carol asked Kaylee.

"It was ok, we just chilled out at the hang out house all day." Kaylee took a bite of pasta.

"This is really good, thank you Carol." I said and she sweetly smiled.

"Michonne should be coming soon, she said she'd stop by." Rick said. I finished my bowl and offered to take Carl's bowl into the kitchen for him.

I placed the bowl into the sink and filled them with water so the sauce wouldn't stick.

"How was your day, Rayne?" Michonne asked as she entered the room, a sweet smile on her face.

"It was pretty good, how about yours?" I leaned up against the counter and she shrugged.

"It was alright, pretty hot out there today though."

"Yeah, I'm surprised someone didn't sweat to death." I softly laughed. She grabbed a fork and went back to the dining area, I followed.

The sun was beginning to set, the sky turning a beautiful shade of pink. With a view like that, it was easy to forget that you're living in the end of the world. I loved how the orange blended with the pink, and then that pink blended with the purple.

I rested my head on my hand and stared out of the window. The outlines of the tops of trees casting a black silhouette.

"What's the plan for tomorrow?" Michonne asked Rick and he ran a hand over the stubble on his face.

"I don't know. Help with the wall, look for some kind of solution to this mess so the others can get back." Rick sounded stressed, more so than usual.

"We will figure this out." Michonne reassured him.

"I sure hope so. We have Glenn, Daryl, Sasha, Abraham, Nicholas and Enid out there."

"They all know how to take care of themselves. Don't stress out over it too much Rick." Michonne asserted.

"I know, but, I worry about them, especially Enid, she's just a kid." The conversation died, and I got up out of my seat.

"I think I'm going to go to bed, I'm still pretty tired. Goodnight guys, I'll see you tomorrow." I waved and went upstairs. I put my boots in their usual place and flopped on the bed, running my hands on my face.

The door opened and Carl walked in, he quietly shut the door behind him and took off his shoes.

"What are you doing? It's only like six." I yawned.

"I wanted to be here with you." He said and walked over to his side of the bed.

"Scoot." He nudged me over to my side. I got under the covers and found a comfortable position.

"Goodnight." I said, and Carl wrapped an arm around my middle.

"Goodnight beautiful."

All is good, for now.
