Rayne's pov
"We look not at what can be seen, but at what cannot be seen, for what can be seen is temporary. But what cannot be seen is eternal, for we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God. A house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." Gabriel ended the ceremony with his favorite verse from the bible.
We had buried Beth under a large willow tree, the long, white branches reminded me of her hair, always long and light. Everyone had left and went back to camp, but I stayed.
"I know you told me not to get depressed when my dad died, and I know you'd say the same for this situation." I talked to her grave, knowing nothing would respond.
"Remember that time in third grade when we had a water balloon fight, and you hit Reese in the face, and we were scared he was going to tell on us? After you went home, I hid in my room." I laughed while wiping a few tears.
"Or that time when we thought we were pirates, and took spare change off of the table and hid it underneath my bed? It's still there, ya know, I never took it out." I whispered, and patted the dirt pile.
"I know you're gone, but you'll always be with me, I'll miss you everyday, but I'm going to hold on to the good memories." I said and stood up.
I took a few moments and just stared at the scene, taking in every detail.
"Well, I'll see you again one day. Goodbye, Beth." I said and turned, walking back to the camp.
Rain was lightly drizzling, and it was cloudy and cold. Everyone back at camp was depressed, especially Maggie, who had done nothing but cry and sit with Glenn.
I eventually reached camp, and everyone was standing around one of the cars.
"What's going on?" I asked Kaylee.
"We're going to Virginia, Beth wanted to get Noah there, so we're fulfilling her last wish."
We all split into two groups and got into our cars, for the very silent car trip towards Virginia. No one talked, we all just stared out of the windows, even Judith was quiet for the majority of the trip. Kaylee, Dean, Carl and I were in the back row of the car, Kaylee leaned on Dean, and I leaning on Carl.
I was asleep for most of the ride, because every time I was awake, my mind kept taking me back to Beth, and I was too emotionally drained to deal with it any longer.
"We made it, it's gone." Rick said through the walkie talkie. I just shook my head, would we ever find somewhere to stay?
"We'll figure something out, we always do." Carl whispered to me.
"I don't know. It's been a year or so since we've had anywhere to stay, what if everything's gone?"
"There's always going to be somewhere, we just have to find it."
A few days after that happened, we ran out of water in the humid weather. We were all sat around the cars, too tired and dehydrated to do anything.
Daryl, Sasha and Maggie went to look for some water, but no luck.
"We're out, just like the other one." Abraham monotonously says.
"Then we walk." Rick said.
Rick has been trying to keep everyone's spirits up, but it's not helping much.
Carl and I were trudging along towards the back of the group. Rick had taken Judith from us, because he could tell how exhausted we were.
Even Carl, who had been so positive about this days earlier was worn down, and pessimistic. Nobody even had the energy to talk, we were just like a herd of walkers, feet scooting on the concrete, walking aimlessly.
