Rayne's pov
Where is he? I thought to myself as I walked the streets of Alexandria. He wasn't home, he wasn't with Kaylee and Dean, so maybe he's with Enid?
Enid was released from the medical house two days ago, her bruised rib not as bad as they originally thought. I walked and walked around, and saw Ron and Enid sitting together. Should I apologize or not? I watched as the two of them talked, who knows what about.
I don't think I'll apologize to her, because I don't regret it, and an apology without regret is just words with no meaning.
I quietly walked around them, and at the end of the road stood Carl, with Judith in her stroller. His eyes met mine, and he started to turn around.
"Don't turn your back on me." I said, knowing he could hear me. He stopped his motion and stood with sad eyes.
"Don't you dare turn your back on me." I said in a small voice, walking towards him.
I caught up with him and he stood still, almost too still for my liking. He didn't make eye contact with me, and that could've torn me to pieces.
"Why?" I asked, feeling so close yet so far from him. He didn't respond.
"Carl, you can't just run from your problems, you can't just run from me." I said with a shake of my head.
"You know if you walk away right now, there's no coming back from this." I said, my voice cracking. He looked up to meet my eyes, and his bright blues held some type of emotion I couldn't read.
"Please, just talk to me." I said, almost pleading to hear his voice. It was pretty pathetic, but, I love him, I miss him. As if they didn't know about the emotional tension, Carol came over and took Judith from Carl.
We were both silent, and as each second passed, my heart shattered more and more. A single tear fell down my face, and as I was going to accept that we were done, a scream pierced the air.
It was like a switch flipped, and my survival mode was activated. I took off in a sprint towards the armory. I flung the door open and grabbed two pistols, and some extra ammo.
I heard people run by the armory, so I kept still until I was sure they passed. I stepped out of the armory and saw black smoke rise in the air, meaning only one thing, fire.
I heard screams come from all over and glass breaking. I stuck close to the walls, and saw someone run towards me, knife in hand, W on their forehead. I knew he wasn't going to stop, so I aimed, and fired. He tripped on his own feet and fell to the ground.
I ran over to the corpse and took his knife and put it in my belt loop. I looked to my right to see one of the invaders chopping someone to pieces with an axe. I shot him too, before he had a chance to see me.
I knew I had to find somewhere safe instead of the open, so I made a break for the main housing street. There were invaders all over the street, running by, slashing people open. My eyes grew wide as I quickly hid behind one of the houses.
Ok, so there were people, presumably all men inside the walls. Got it.
Spotting them apart from us was easy. They were dressed in tank tops and ratty clothes, where as Alexandrians looked pretty put together. I heard a sinister laugh come from behind me and I spun around, only to have my gun knocked from my hand.
The large man was on top of me, trying to cover my mouth as I squirmed and struggled against him.
"Don't scream, you little bitch." I pushed against his shoulders, and he tried to pin my arms down. I tried to reach for the knife in my belt loop, but he was blocking it.
