When they got to the house Sam got ready for work. She walked up to Rachael’s room and hugged her before she left. Rachael went down to the kitchen to let her mom Marie was on her way. She decided she’d take her to Steak n’ Shake to meet Sam, so they’d probably eat dinner there.
An hour later Marie knocked on the front door and Rachael went running for it.
“Hey! It’s so nice to finally meet you.” she said stepping aside so Marie could walk in.
“I know right. I almost feel like a secret.” Marie laughed.
Rachael laughed with her, “Well, not anymore. I’ll show you the quest rooms so you can put your bag away. Did you want to shower or anything?”
“No, I think I’m okay. I am hungry thought. Where’s Sam?” Marie asked.
“She’s at work, Steak n’ Shake.” They walked into the quest room.
Marie put her bag down on the bed and turn around, “Sounds good. Let’s go.”
They walked into Steak n’ Shake and Rachael took them right to her usual table. Sam walked over with a menu for Marie.
“Hello, I’m Sam.” she smiled.
Marie looked up, “Hey. I’m happy to finally meet you.”
Sam laughed and looked at Rachael, “Usual?” Rachael nodded. Marie gave Sam her order and she left to put it in. She came back and sat next to Rachael, and the three of them talked about each other and the boys. When they were done eating Sam went and put in their shake orders.
Around midnight Rachael and Marie decided to head back to the house. When they got back they went to their rooms. Rachael decided to go to bed. She was almost asleep when Marie knocked on her door.
“Come in.” Rachael called.
Marie walked over to her bed, “Mind if I lay with you?”
“Of course not, what’s up?” Rachael moved over some.
She heard Marie sigh, “Do you think Maxx loves me?”
“Yes I do. Do you not?”
“I do..” Rachael knew there was more, “but?”
“Well, Austin and Sam are married, You and Cody are engaged…”
“Oh.” She heard Marie sigh again. “I think he will, in time.”
“I hope so..” Marie said and got up, “Thank you, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Goodnight.” Rachael whispered and rolled over grabbing her phone. She hit Cody’s contact and hoped he’d pick up.
“Hey babe.”
“Hey.. Can you talk?” she asked.
“Yeah, what’s up?” She heard noise around him.
“Can anyone else hear me?” she whispered.
Cody whispered back, “No, tell me what’s wrong.”
“Um.. Do you think Maxx will…” she paused
“Propose to Marie?” he chuckled.
Rachael sighed,“Yeah.. That..”
“I think he’s thought of it. I’ll tell you a secret though.” he chuckled again.
Rachael laughed with him, “Okay.”
“He’s had a ring since they started dating. He’s always felt she’s the one.”
“That makes me want to cry.. That’s so cute.”
Cody laughed, “It is. Don’t worry, it will happen any day.”
“Okay. I’m going to sleep. I love you.” she said sleepily.
“Goodnight, I love you more.” Cody whispered. Rachael smiled and hung up. She didn’t even know she fell asleep.
