As soon as they went beyond the short way after the gate, they jumped off the truck, and the three of them hid in three directions.

'And now?' Chatrin whispered.

'We need to find an elevator or a staircase to get down to level seven,' Bomonsky replied and started off where the trucks went.

The others followed him in silence and tried to lurk. They flinched at every tiny noise, but they bravely went on. They heard some weird sounds in the distance, and they noticed huge yawning holes in the cave walls. Every opening was a passageway, which they could easily stand into, too.

'This is a labyrinth! How shall we find the one we need from among all these passageways? Let alone the fact, we're running out of time!' Chatrin panicked. 'We've got the codes, and we need to get down to a lower level. We must be searching for a widely used item and not a hidden one.'

'I agree,' George intervened. 'I think we should forget about the exits. Let's go straight.' He went on, not even waiting for his mates' agreement. He immediately started running towards the inside of the mountain.

Hardly had they gone fifty metres, when they arrived in a large, empty hall. There was no other way; they went straight ahead all the time, so they did not understand where the truck and the alien had gone. Around them were only the grey and black walls; the light was shimmering only from the fluorescent lamps. All three of them tried to find an entrance. They walked around the room, should one of them notice it. They had to search only for a few seconds. George spotted soon what they had been looking for.

'Come on, quickly! This is the one!' he yelled, so the others hurried up to him.

George kneeled down on the ground, and he pointed at three identical signs, which were at the same distance from each other.

'What are these?' Bomonsky asked.

George examined it, then he looked at the wall behind him.

'Look, there is one there, too.' He motioned to the recurring signs on the wall. 'Bomonsky, show me the codes we received,' he asked, then he compared them with them with the signs on the ground.

'The signs are the same, though there are much more of them on the wall,' Chatrin noted. 'We haven't got much time, let's try it!'

Chatrin stepped on one of the signs and motioned George to press the codes. She touched the signs one after the other on the wall, by which they began to luminate. Through the gaps between the signs a sharp beam of light penetrated. All the pressed signs were luminating at the same time; at once, the top of the room started to open. The sharp light was stirring as if it was smoke. The light was lowering straight above the scientists' head. The stirring light began to surround Chatrin's, George's, and Bomonsky's figures, while its shape and the light intensity was constantly changing. Chatrin and the others did not dare to move; they were waiting to see what was going to happen.

The light swirling like smoke completely covered them; then when their whole body was covered, a machine-like, monotonous voice said, 'Enter the destination!' Then after a brief reflection, Bomonsky said humbly, 'Level seven!' He did not think he should say more.

Suddenly, the ground opened up under all three of them. They disappeared in the darkness one after the other, which was illuminated by the surrounding flood of light. They were racing down at great speed, but they did not even think of struggling or screaming. They hoped everything would happen as it had to happen. After falling several hundred metres, the light shell came to a halt, and all three of them stood on their feet.
