Chapter 16

Once dinner was over I helped clean up the backyard, then helped Mia start washing the dishes.

"Lexi I want you to know that you being home makes it feel whole again." Mia said with her hands inside the sink looking at me.

I hugged her from behind because of her soapy hands.

"It feels like that to me too."

"Lexi I can help Mia in here you can go and watch the movie with the others." Brian said from the doorway.

"Okay." I said smiling at the both of them individually before handing Brian the towel and leaving the kitchen.

I walked into the lounge room and sat on the couch behind Dom and Letty. Vince got up to make the popcorn and not long after that Vince stormed out of the room yelling at the others to make their own 'goddamned' popcorn.

I sighed and put my hand on Dom's shoulder when he started to get up. He looked up at me confused.

"I'll go and talk to him." I said getting up from the couch.

I made sure the popcorn was on in the microwave and walked out the back. Vince was sitting on the table with his legs up on the chairs.

I silently walked over to him and threw my hands around his neck.

"What's wrong, love?" I asked not letting go of him.

"Mia is going out on a date with Brian." He said kicking the chair over.

I sighed at him, we were sort of in the same boat right now, the people we love don't love us back.

"Okay this is probably going to sound seriously morbid Vince. But I want you to imagine that tomorrow all your friends die." I started.

He turned his head slightly and looked at me like I've gone crazy.

"Hear me out okay." I said swinging myself around so i was in front of him. "Would you feel guilty of being an idiot because Brian and Mia are going out. Instead of being in the living room spending time with them." I said.

"I'm sorry  Lexi for acting like this, it just still hits me hard that she doesn't think of me the way I want her to."

"Well buddy you're feeling what I'm feeling right now." I joked.

"I'm sorry about how you and Dom are right now. I wish things were different." He said truthfully.

"Me too, buddy me too." I said nodding at him.

We walked back inside together and I put the popcorn into a large bowl and brought it into the lounge.

Vince sat down on the couch in the last remaining spot and pat his lap. I smiled at him and gave the bowl to Letty who was sitting on the floor between Dom's legs. I cuddled up to Vince and we all sat silently to watch the movie.  

That was until Vince and I started to fight over the popcorn and then everyone joined in.

Just as I was winning Vince proceeded to tickle me in order to get me to loosen my grip on the popcorn. I let go of the popcorn surrendering it to one of the guys, still laughing hysterically.

By the end of the night, Vince had already passed out on the couch and I felt that it was about time I got going. I didn't want to assume that everyone was cool with me staying the night.

I got myself out of Vince's grip and went to grab my things.

"Lex." Someone whispered.

It was Dom who was halfway carrying a sleeping Letty upstairs.

"Stay, this is your home too." He said before continuing upstairs.

That made me smile and return to where I was in Vince's arms on the couch.
