It wasn't a sunny day. It was cold. Wet. And dark.
A reverse of those days beforehand.
A knock at the door.
Tanaka hands me a letter.
Another man follows. Him. He sits across from me.
I open the letter in my hands.
As I unfold the letter. I know it's something bad.
My stomach grinds.
I don't even get even to the end before the tears start falling.
He asks me what's in the letter.
My words come out garbled and warped.
"Fa..the..ers...dead..."
As soon as they left my lips. I broke down.
Hysterical sobs racked my body as I throw the letter away.
Suddenly I'm surrounded by warmth and the scent of hydrangeas.
I sniff.
The count has his arms wrapped around me.
My face burrowed in his chest. My tears soaking his jacket.
I feel so tired. I can't even push him away.
His voice telling me it's alright is the last thing I hear before sleep and shock drug me into sleep.
