But it wasn't safe
Alexis released me. Looked around, as if searching for something.
"Alexis" the words slip past my lips.
"They've entered the castle."
"It's not safe here. Tanaka will take you away. Somewhere safe."
Shock runs down my spine.
"No!" If I sound hysterical. I probably was.
"Let's run away. You don't have to fight them. We can go away and be free."
He sighs. Smiles a little and cups my face in his hands.
"I'm done with running. Before I didn't have anything important to me. But now I have to protect you."
"Alexis......."
He continues. "I promised your father I would protect you and let no harm come to you."
Tears slid down my cheeks. He lightly kisses me before pushes me into waiting hands.
Tanaka. Who I didn't see enter. And sweeps me away.
The last I see of Alexis, is his back getting farther away from me.
