10. Get her out of that crap

I woke up quite suddenly to my sister screaming. REALLY LOUD.
"Would you shut up for goodness sake?" I yelled back (yeah, still working on that harsh vocabulary unworthy of a loving Christian).
Then I remembered Raja was sleeping on the couch. And I hadn't tell Clara about it.
"I'm so sorry I thought you were like a burglur or something!" Clara apologized when, I supposed, she recognized my friend.
"It's okay, guess I would've screamed too if a girl was laying on my couch." Raja joked.
I walked out of my room, blinded by the sun rays. Hard wake up.
"What time is it, anybody?" I muttered.
"10 a.m., I think?"
"Yeah, 10 o'clock."
Now I was totally awake.
"I'm supposed to ne at DeeDee's place in an half an hour!" I whined, falling on the couch - in other words, on Raja.
"Well, call things off!" said Clara on an obvious tone.
"It's not that simple..."
"What's so complicated?"
"She's so suspicious, might as well think I got a hangover or something." I explained.
I suddenly felt myself being tossed by an arm. I gasped, but noticed Raja had just moved me next to him instead of on top of him. His arm was resting on my waist so I wouldn't fall off.
"Hum, you can let go, I have to go brush my teeth anyway."
My gaze fell on Clara, who was hiding her grin behind her cellphone. GG, sister, GG.
"There's no hurry, I'll go make the breakfast." She hurriedly said, running to the fridge before I could say something.
"What's up with DeeDee today? Got some church stuff to do?" Raja whispered in the back of my neck.
My stupid body shivered.
"Yes", I muttered, pulling myself up. "Sorry, I- I'll be right back." And I ran to my room, picked up my phone, than rushed to the bathroom, locking the door.
I dialed DeeDee's number. She picked up at the second ring.
"Okay DeeDee, don't be mad at me but I'll be late, I just woke up."
"Why would I be mad at you?"
"Huh, cuz we haven't done anything!"
Destinée answered something but I wasn't listening, for I had heard knocks at the door. Only my parents knocked on our door.
"Oh my gosh, I really gotta go, Dee, Mom's gotta kill me if she sees Ray..."
"Raja? What -"
But I was already turning on the hot water so I could listen to Clara and Mom while I would come up with the perfect excuse speech.
"Clara! Where's your sister?"
"She's in the bathroom."
That was my cue : I started humming Awesome God until my mom replied :
"And you are?"
She was probably talking to Raja.
"I'm Twilla's friend, ma'am. Nice to meet you."
"Huhum, nice to meet you too, but I was wondering if you could leave me alone with Clara for a few minutes."
"Sure, Clara you'll call me when you're done, imma be at my place."
She didn't even talk back, Mom started as soon as he closes the door.
"Isn't she a Christian? She shouldn't have boy friends hanging around whenever wherever"
"Mom, let the girl live. Besides, Raja's our neighbour, and he never comes when I'm out. "
"This is why I came. Where do you go? Cuz obviously, it isn't work."
"I'm 23, is anybody out there can just let me do whatever?"
"I'm your mom, if you're ruining your life, I can let you know!"
Since the conversation wasn't revolving around me, I actually got into the shower, washed myself real quick, then walked out of the bath. As expected, both my mom and my sister shut up. I opened the door, wrapped in my towel.
"I was leaving anyway", said Clara, then slammed the front door.
"Hello?" I called.
Mom didn't answer. She just got outside too. At this point, I was just curious so I opened the front door just in time to hear Clara yell:
"Leave me alone!"
I dialed Raja's number.
"I can come back?"
"The sooner the better."
"I'll jog."
I let him in a few seconds later.
"What's going on?" Raja asked me.
"I dunno, Mom found out something about Clara that even I don't know! How can she not work and still pay the bills? Doesn't make any sense!"
Raja remained so silent I added:
"Do you have something in mind?"
"Yeah, well, it doesn't seem like Clara would do that."
"Oh... I see what you mean."
An akward silence filled the appartment.
"We gotta find out what she's up to." I decided.
"We? Hell no!"
"You've been there before, therefore you know how this whole thing works. Help me get her out of that crap."
"That is, if that's what she's doing."
"Ray, she got A+ in Maths even if she spent 3 weeks at the hospital!"
"Exactly, there's nothing there for her!... wait."
"What?"
"Why did she spend 3 weeks in the hospital?"
"It's because of..."
My answer died on my lips. Clara was so in trouble.

Haha! First cliffhanger! How did that one go?
So, what does Clara get herself into? Leave a comment, click the star and add the story to your library! I'll update very soon :)
