Just Stop. A free verse poem.

Just stop.

Stop saying you love me.

Stop trying to kiss me.

Stop looking at me like that!

I smile and push you away.

I need to push you away.

And the look you give me kills me.

The hurt in your eyes matches the guilt in mine.

Just Stop.

Stop putting your arm around me.

Stop saying I'm yours.

Stop being sweet.

Things are different now.

I'm different now.

I can't do this anymore..

And it kills me.

JUST stop.

Stop talking about the future.

Stop relying on me.

Stop smiling at me like you do.

Hate me.

Yell at me.

Push me.

I'd rather any of that than to watch what I'm putting you through..

JUST STOP.

Stop saying I'm beautiful.

Stop saying I'm the best.

Stop believing I won't hurt you.

I'm sorry.

But I need to do this.

I need to stop being selfless.

Even if I know it will shatter you.

Please. Just stop.
