Falling asleep beside her roommate was less of a nuisance than Camila had initially anticipated. She tried to chalk it up to them both being too exhausted to bother each other or to notice if the other had but it was a relatively easy sleep. Perhaps it was her knowing that Lauren wouldn't try anything since her secret was out—and her nose had been busted only moments before. Aside from only slightly hogging the covers, Lauren behaved herself.
Camila woke half wondering if Lauren even remembered much of what had happened or if she would make some snide gay comment about waking up in the same bed together. She groaned before she even opened her eyes, only to find the other half of her bed empty. She rolled over and glanced around the room. Lauren's bed was stripped of the bloodied sheets and the green eyed girl was nowhere in sight.
Camila shrugged. It's not like it was the first time.
She dragged herself out of bed and into the small living area of their shared apartment and was immediately met with the strong scent of coffee and Lauren standing in the kitchen in just a t-shirt and her underwear. She was staring down at something, her dark wavy hair falling around her face. The bridge of her nose was bruised but not as terrible as she thought it would be.
"Hey," Camila said quietly, her voice still hoarse from just waking up. The sound caught her roommate's attention and she looked up finally. "How are you feeling?"
"I've been better," she offered with a shrug, no real emotion in her voice. Camila couldn't tell if she was in a mood or not and that was always troubling for her. "I'm glad you're up." That caught her attention and she paused in her tracks on the way to the kitchen.
"You are?"
"Can we talk?" she asked, cutting right to the chase. Her voice was still calm and leveled, which was something that Camila wasn't used to with Lauren. She cautiously walked over to the table and had a seat, waiting for the other girl to do the same. When she did she brought over two mugs and offered one to Camila who in turn raised an eyebrow.
"You made me coffee?"
"You cleaned my disgusting face," she countered pointedly, setting the cup down on the table and sitting across from her. Camila raised the cup to her mouth but paused, setting it back down skeptically.
"I don't think I'm quite ready to drink anything you've touched just yet." Lauren pressed her tongue into her cheek, playing with the handle of her mug mindlessly but nodded in understanding. She has messed with her beverages in the past.
"Fair enough."
"What did you want to talk about?"
"About what you found the other day." Camila pursed her lips and trailed her fingers over her pajama shorts covering her thighs. She wondered how Lauren never got cold.
"If you were wondering...you threw your pants to my side of the room at some point when you were tearing the apartment apart. I thought they were mine."
"So you didn't go through my stuff?" she asked and it weirded Camila out how calm she was being. Was she on something at the moment? Lauren never hears her out.
"No."
"Did you tell anyone about it?" Camila grew a little nervous under her piercing stare but in her defense it wouldn't be so intimidating if Lauren's eyes didn't look like that. Honestly, how was that possible?
"Not exactly."
"What does that mean?"
"I was on the phone with my best friend Dinah when I found it." Camila watched as her jaw set tightly. "She doesn't know what it was though. I didn't tell her."
