I ran into school that morning with much enthusiasm. Ok, that's a lie. I hate school, it's so boring. What's the point in learning something when you already know it.
That's not the point! Anyway, I was so desperate to get to school because I needed to see Astrid. Yes, Astrid, my long time best friend. You know: blonde, beautiful, shorter than me. Did I just call her beautiful?
"Harry?" A voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I then realised that I was already in the cafeteria, hovering at a table and staring into space. I recognised the voice. It was Astrid's.
"Hi Astrid, hi. Hi Astrid." I talk a lot when I'm nervous, okay? Don't blame me. It wasn't helping that Astrid was glaring at me as I sat down.
I fumbled with my fingers as my head bowed. I couldn't look at her right now. The fact that I was that wolf and she didn't even know but her brother did. Confusing, right? I was more surprised when I found out.
Oh jesus, I'm talking to myself, again. Great ... just ignore me ...
"Where were you last night?" Astrid asked. I couldn't help it; my head shot up.
"I - I was at home." I didn't sound very convincing.
Astrid's eyes narrowed slightly. "So how come you didn't answer your phone?"
"I left it in my bag which I left here." Ok, that wasn't a total lie but what else could I say?
"You mean this bag?" Astrid held up an old tattered backpack. It was mine. Definitely mine. I mumbled a quiet "Thanks" as she slid it across.
I decided to play Astrid's own game against her. "How come you didn't drop my bag off at my house?"
Astrid choked on her water. "Because I was busy," she spluttered.
I smirked. "Busy with what?"
Astrid groaned, glancing around to check if anyone was listening. "You wouldn't believe me even if I told you."
"Try me," I said at the exact same time that the bell rang, signalling our first lesson.
Astrid got up. I quickly ran after her, grabbing her arm tightly. "Astrid just tell me."
She snatched her arm back. "Later," she hissed, proceeding to walk to Mr Lee's class. I had no other choice but to follow her. I needed to tell her I was that wolf. She'd want to know.
"Harry." I jumped at the voice coming behind me. I turned my head to see Flynn. "I heard what happened, Ryan told me," Flynn whispered.
"He what?"
"No time to explain." Without another word, Flynn ran off. I was frozen, staring after him until Astrid brought me back to my senses.
Within a few minutes we entered our class and took our usual seats at the back. I tried to get Astrid's attention but she just ignored me.
"Astrid!" I hissed for the hundredth time as other students started filling the class. "Tell me." I already knew what it was but I couldn't let her know.
"Harry, I already said I'll tell you later." Astrid groaned, holding her face in her hands.
"You can't tell me later."
"Why not?"
"I'll be busy. Just tell me now!"
Astrid glanced at me. She shrugged, grabbing a pen and a piece of paper. I stared as she wrote it down.
I began reading it as she passed it over. Once I was done, I had to look surprised. "You took a wolf to your house? Why?"
Astrid's eyes narrowed. "In my defence, it was dark and I couldn't really see anything."
