We Were Lied To

I wish we weren't lied to
But we were
You know it's true

As kids, it was all fair
We were all friends
Our biggest was our "share"

Before we got to know the world
The unfairness of it all
But our future was foretold.

We learned girls are mean
They just want a pretty face
We learned we have to be lean

We learned about dying.
Drugs, rape, murder...more...
We learned about real crying.

And suddenly...

We couldn't fix our problems with a pinkie swear.
