I woke up a few days later for class and something felt weird, but I brushed it off. I reached under my pillow and grabbed my phone.

Blake: wake up beautiful, i want to talk to you.

I had another message from Shelby.

Shelby: em, you have to hurry to class so i can hear all about your trip with blake!!!

I left Shelby on read and replied to Blake.

iMessage

Emma: i'm up :) getting ready for class, what are you up to?

Blake: finally babe. I'm watching Ford for a little bit today. You want to meet up after your class?

Emma: maybe. I feel weird, i think i might be getting a cold or something.

Blake: oh ok beautiful. I hope you start to feel better :(

I clicked my phone off, smiling, because Blake's texts always made me smile.

...

"Emma! Come here!" Shelby shouted at me as soon as she saw me walk into the classroom.

"Hey!"

"I need to know. Details. What happened with you and Blake?"

"Shelby nothing happened." I laughed, but she knew I was lying."

"I have been your best friend for 6 years, I know when you're lying."

"Okay okay! It wasn't a big de-." Before I could finish, she had already started talking again.

"Emma Marie! Did you sleep with Blake Griffin?!" She was talking significantly louder than everyone else in the room, and after she said that everyone got quiet.

Our professor looked up from his desk and asked, "someone slept with Blake Griffin? Well I must hear this story."

I was so embarrassed, I hit Shelby in the shoulder as she tried to cover her face up with her textbook.

"So what story do we have to tell, Emma?" Professor Thomas asked.

In my head I was trying to think or an excuse, a lie, anything.

"Well, uh, Professor Thomas, me and Shelby were just talking about something she read online, and she got to excited. Sorry."

"Okay class, pull out your textbooks, and Shelby remove yours from in front of your face, please."

When he started teaching I looked over at Shelby and whispered, "yes, I slept with Blake Griffin."

We both smiled and she got too excited again, but thankfully no one noticed this time.

After class we were walking around campus and Shelby unloaded more questions.

"So are you guys dating? When are you seeing him again? Does his ex know about you? His kid? Do you know his friends?"

"Shelby, calm down." I said feeling overwhelmed, she was always a little crazy when I told her things like this, but when I thought about it, these are the questions people would be asking if Blake and I ever did go public as a couple.

We sat down on some steps and kept talking.

"We're not dating right now, just hanging out and talking. I'm feeling kind of under the weather so I don't know when I'll see him again. I do know some of the people on the team, yes. I have no idea if Brynn or Ford know who I am, we've known each other for a few weeks, Shelb. I don't expect anything right now."
