"Alright, I'll give you a project. A project that involves cooperation since you'll be doing it with a partner." Mrs. Hall, our History teacher, announced.

The whole class cheered except for me. I really hate working in groups. I'd rather do it alone.

The teacher announced the partners. "Macy and Oliver, Jackson and Rose..." The list went on and when she said my name, "Reagan and..."

Someone good, someone good, someone good.

Someone smart, someone smart, someone smart.

Someone perfect, someone perfect, someone perfect.

"Alexander."

Damn it.

Alexander's in my History class and now, we're freaking partners. He looked at me and winked. I glared in return. Just how unlucky am I?

"Alright, I want you to get along with your partner. Find something about your partner that resembles any person who is discussed in any History topics. For example, your partner resembles this certain person because of her beauty or her knowledge." The teacher explained. "Get to know your partner. Make an essay about the similarity of your partner and the historical person. But, never tell your partner who he or she resembles. Just don't tell him anything at all. By the end of the week, everyone will submit the essay they've made to me."

Pretty easy. After explaining everything about our project, Mrs. Hall dismissed the class. I grabbed my things and proceeded to my locker.

"Hey Reagan, I'll be asking a few questions tonight." Xander said as he approached me.

"Whatever. And hey, I'm a girl so better choose a historical woman not man." I warned.

"But it's up to me." Xander argued. "Based on appearance, you resemble a bald man with those Santa-Claus-beard."

"What did you say?" I frowned.

"I said you're beautiful." Xander stated.

Though I'm pretty sure Xander meant it as a joke, I blushed.

"I...I'll be going." I stuttered as I ran away from him. I saw him smirk but I just ignored it and continued to walk the opposite way. That was embarrassing.

~.~

"I'm seventeen... gonna be eighteen next month." I answered.

"You're not an adult then?" Xander asked.

"No. I'm pretty sure you aren't too, are you?"

"My birthday was just last month." Xander answered but I can see a gloomy spark in his eyes. Is something wrong?

"Anyway, it's my turn to ask. How much do you know about our universe?" I asked.

"I'm pretty sure my knowledge about our universe is the same as yours." Xander stated. "Now my turn, answer this honestly since your answer will have a huge effect in choosing who you resemble."

I rolled my eyes.

"Do you think dying is a great thing?"

"Well, I had a near-death experience with a truck so I'll say it's probably a bad thing but it's also a good thing. If you're asking if I want to die or not, No, I don't want to die." I answered.

He smiled. But I know it's a fake smile. "Jeez, you've been acting weird. Anything wrong?" I asked.

"No, now it's my turn."

"What?"

"You just asked me a question now it's my turn." Xander explained. I frowned but he just ignored it. "Did you ever made a promise to a childhood friend or bestfriend?"

"My memory's not good. I can't remember anything as a child. My oldest memory I could gather is from middle school. I made a promise to Jillian once or twice in middle school."

"Do you have memory problems or something?"

"Ever since I was involved in an accident last summer, I just can't remember anything from my childhood no matter how hard I try."

"So you don't remember anyone being your childhood friend?"

"Nope." I answered. Suddenly, Xander's hand caressed my face. I can feel my face blushing. "What are you doing?"

"You were crying." Xander said as he put his hand back.

"I cried?" I asked as I wiped my tears.

"Are you alright?" The boy asked.

"My mom is angry with me." I sobbed.

The boy caressed my face, "Stop crying, you have me."

What the hell was that flashback? My head suddenly feel heavy and before I knew it the world went black.
