Chapter 10

The next morning at breakfast, everyone talks about Victor.
"I wonder how he sprained his ankle!" Tyler laughs.
Victor enters. "I tripped down the stairs. But the spare attic key is missing. I'm going to find out which one of you has it and you will be in a lot of trouble."

At school, Annika and Jamal talk.
"He's gonna find out it's us! We can't go into the attic anymore!" Jamal suggests.
"We have to! At least one more time!" Annika says.
"Fine. One more time." Jamal gives in.

In the bathroom, Elayna and Savanna talk.
"Isn't it sweet that Danya and Mark are back together?" Elayna asks.
"Sure." Savanna looks away.
"You like him, don't you?" Elayna smirks.
"Mark? No way!" Savanna blushes.
"You do, don't you?!"
"Okay, fine! I do! I jut don't think Danya's right for him at all!"
Elayna and Savanna leave.
And Danya comes out of the stall, after hearing what Savanna said.

In their room, Tyler and Hunter get ready for the party.
"I really don't want to go." Tyler says.
"There'll be girls there!" Hunter smiles.
"But I like Danya!"
"That ship sailed a long time ago, buddy." Hunter laughs.

Elayna and Savanna get ready in Elayna and Annika's room.
"So, you and Annika are friends now?" Savanna asks.
"Not really. I still don't trust her." Elayna says.
"Why not?"
"She's always sneaking around at night." Elayna explains. "She always comes back and puts something in that box. We should look through it!"
"No! Don't!" Savanna says.
Elayna looks through the box.
She sees two keys.
The spare attic key and the key from the stair.
She sees her diary.
"Yes! She has a diary!" Elayna laughs.
"What does it say?" Savanna smiles.
Elayna mocks Annika while reading,'Today is my first day here. This place sucks. This one piece of trash, Elayna, turned everyone against me! I hate her so much I just want to punch her stupid face! But this one guy is really sweet to me. His name is Jamal or something. I think he likes me. At least someone in this place does.'
"Wow. That jerk!" Elayna remarks.
"Well, you were REALLY rude to her on her first day." Savanna admits.
"Yeah, you're right." Elayna agrees.
"Now, let's go down to the party!"

Downstairs in the living room, Mark and Danya invite everyone and they have their party.
Annika goes to Jamal.
"We should go up into the attic!" She suggests.
"Now?" Jamal glares.
"Victor isn't here. Now's our chance!" She pulls him away.
Tyler and Hunter talk.
"Go get 'em, tiger." Hunter tells Tyler as he goes off to a girl.
"Hey." He says.
"Hi." The girl smiles.
"Um, did you come from heaven because you fell on your face." He says.
"That's not the phrase!" Hunter whispers.
The girl rolls her eyes and leaves.
Hunter laughs.

Mark goes to Savanna.
"Hey, I never apologized for the bracelet incident." He says.
"It's okay." Savanna smiles.
He smiles back.
Danya comes in and sees it.
"Mark, can you leave for a little bit? Me and Savanna need to talk." Danya glares.
"Okay." Mark walks away.
"Stay away from Mark." Danya demands Savanna.
"What?" Savanna asks.
"I know you like him. I heard you tell Elayna." She smirks.
"Please don't tell anyone!"
"Just stay away from him or you'll be sorry."
Elayna comes. "What's going on?"
"Elayna, do you want to swap roommates?" Danya asks. "I know you don't like sharing with Annika and I certainly don't want to share with Savanna, anymore."
Danya storms out.
Tears start forming in Savanna's eyes.

In the attic, Annika and Jamal look in the secret room.
"I found something!" She exclaims.
She shows him a box.
"It's locked." He says.
She takes out the key from the stair and tries to unlock it with it.
It works.
"This is what the key is for!" Annika gasps.
They open the box and find 3 black cylinders and a golden artifact.
"Woah. What are those cylinders?" Annika asks.
"My uncle might know! He works at an artifact store!" Jamal suggests.
"Okay, we'll see him tomorrow."
They hear a bang on the door.
"What was that?" Annika gasps.
"Probably just the music making the door shake." Jamal shivers.
"I'm scared. Let's get out of here!"

Annika takes everything back to her room.
Danya comes in.
"Hey, Annika." She says.
"Hi!" Annika smiles.
"We're going to be roommates from now on, is that okay?" Danya asks.
"Yeah. But, why?"
"Elayna and you don't really get along. And Savanna said things about me behind my back. You're kind of my only friend right now." Danya explains.
"Well, I'd love to be your roommate." They laugh.
