Chapter 49

Tanaw ang mga malalaking gusali ng siyudad at ang matalim na sinag ng araw, Naglalakad si Keith sa hallway ng kompanya pabalik sa kanyang opisina matapos ang dalawang oras na meeting nito. It was still 11:30 AM, not even a half of the day, ngunit nakaramdam na siya ng pagod. He realized that he haven't taken a break since he started working. And now he has only  30 minutes to eat his lunch and to prepare for an event later. He has been working so hard since time immemorial as if he was just born for a moment like this.

Pagpasok niya sa loob ng opisina, wala doon si Shane na kanyang sekretarya. Naisip niyang baka ay kumain o bumili ito ng makakaing pananghalian. But a lady in a redvelvet corset minidress is what dawned him the minute he opened the door of his own office. Nakatalikod mula sa anggulo niya, nakaharap ito sa bookshelf na nasa sulok ng silid. Mukhang abala ito sa binabasa kaya hindi nito napansin ang kanyang pagpasok. Dahil doon, malaya niya itong naisiyasigan. Maputi, makinis, malinis at sexy— Iyon ang agad ang impresyon niya. Mahirap bilhin ang papuri ng isang Keith Cruz, kaya nagtataka rin siya sa sarili kung bakit iyon agad ang lumabas sa kanyang isipan. Isn't it crazy? Even just her back screams class and elegance. 

To aid his curiousity, Keith cleared his throat and said, "Who ordered you to enter my office?" Sandaling nanigas ang balikat ng dalaga nang marinig ang kanyang boses bago ito umikot at hinarap siya.

"Hi!" She said as a smile threatened to make its way to her lips. She put the book back on the shelf and made her way closer to Keith, creating a perfect distance between them. "You must be very surprised to see me. Shane said you were still on a meeting so she just let me in." She said. Her eyes speaks confidence, she looked radiating in her dress that hugged her slender figure, she styled her hair in a loose curls and ended up look stunning.   Malaki ang nakikita niyang pagbabago sa kanyang asawa, and that what made his chest gone wild.

"Hindi na ako magtatagal pa. I have so much in my plate right now and I don't wanna waste my time." Habang sinasabi iyon, kumuha si Sandra ng ballpen sa loob ng kanyang bag at binuksan ang laman ng kanyang briefcase habang hindi pa rin makapagsalita si Keith sa bilis ng mga pangyayari. "Here." Saad niya sabay abot sa ballpen at papeles.

Sa halip na kunin iyon, iniwan ni Keith ang mga ito sa ere at tinalikuran ang asawa. "Hindi ko pipirmahan 'yan." He said with his voice sounding aggravated.

Sinundan ni Sandra si Keith na nagtungo sa offie table nito. "4 years ago you refuse to sign because you want me instead to hand it over for you. Now what? Nandito na ako. Ano pa ba ang gusto mo?"

"As what you've said, you're busy. And so am I. I wish to reschedule it in some time that both of us are available." Sagot nito kay Sandra habang umuupo.

"Anong reschedule? I want it now. It will only take you less than 5 seconds to sign this. That's it, we're done!" Nasa gilid lang nito ang dalaga at nilapag ang papel sa mesa niya.

"I want us to talk—"

"For what? Para hindi mo na naman ako sisiputin at magmukhang tanga kakahintay sa 'yo?" She laughs sarcastically  when she remembered how Keith ditched her at the restaurant.

"I never got the chance to explain what happened because you refused to talk to me. That day when I was supposed to meet you, Umuwi ako ng maaga galing sa opisina upang makapaghinga dahil masama ang pakiramdam ko. But I ended up waking up late and my body is burning in fever. I'm sorry for failing you." He explained.

"I'm not even surprised. You always fail me, Keith." A quick deafening silence took place between them.

Keith clumped his jaw and said, "Just... just give me a chance to explain my side—" But Sandra stopped him. "You know what? Wala na tayong kailangang pag-usapan pa. If forgiveness is what you are asking for your peace of mind, I already have forgiven you noon pa. Napatawad ko na ang pagtataksil mo. Napatawad ko na ang pagbabalewala mo sa akin noon. Idinaan ko na sa limot ang lahat na nangyari 4 years ago kung yan ang pinag-aalala mo. You don't have to explain your side because I already understand. I realized... na kasalanan ko rin naman lahat 'yon. Kung hindi ko pinilit ang sarili ko sa 'yo, hindi 'yon mangyayari. You made yourself clear since day 1 that you don't like me, that whatever we have was clearly just on papers. Ako lang talaga ang tanga na umasa sa pagmamahal mo." Sandra said it successfully without her voice sounding broken. Patuloy lang ang pagpigil niya sa kanyang mga luha na gustong-gusto ng makawala kanina pa.

"I'm also sorry. Sorry for the mess that I made and for putting you through it. That's the reason why I initiated our anullment. I'm just doing ourselves a favor. Please sign the papers." She continued.

"Yan lang ba talaga ang rason mo kung bakit gusto mo akong pumirma?" Bitterness is what dripping from him and looked up to meet Sandra's gaze.

"What do you mean?" Sandra saw the sadness and pain swirled inside Keith's brown eyes but  she just shrugged it off because she thought she was just becoming delusional.

Keith was about to say something back when a knock from the door interrupted them. Sabay silang napatingin sa pintuan at iniluwa doon ang sekretarya niya. "Excuse me. I'm sorry to disturb you, pero nasa ibaba na raw po ang susundo sa inyo sir Keith." Tumatango, sinabihan ni Keith si Shane na susunod lang siya.

Tumayo si Keith sa kinauupuan. Nakasunod lang ang tingin ni Sandra sa ginagawa nito na naghahanda sa kanyang pag-alis. "I'll sign the papers." Hinarap niya si Sandra nang matapos sa ginagawa. "We will talk about it again after La Costa Blanca. I already agreed with Mr. Tan regarding with the project. The owner of the hotel prefers to sell it to a married couple that's why he pass it over to us. We have to save the marriage until then."

As his wife remained speechless, he continued, "I will inform my personal driver to drive you back in your office—"

"Y-You don't have to. I brought my car."

"If you still have any concern especially about the project, just coordinate with Shane. I really have to go."
