Expect The Unexpected

Chapter 34

I'm sitting on the couch with Flynn and we're watching Jake and the Neverland Pirates. He seems pretty interested in it, which I can see why it's a good show so far.

I don't think I've watched one of my shows since Kyle died. The DVR is full of this past season of the Bachelorette but I don't have the heart to watch it. 

It's supposed to be a nice day outside today and Flynn has been begging me to go swimming but I can't handle both him and Blaire in the pool so I keep putting it off and I feel horrible. 

"Mommy they found the treasure!" Flynn tells me pointing to the TV. 

"They did baby!"

"I want to go on a Treasure Hunt"

"You do?"

"Mhmm" He replies as he watches TV.

The doorbell rings and Flynn looks at the door and then goes back to watching TV. I sigh and get up to answer the door. I open the door and Ali is standing there with a smile on her face. 

"Hey bestie!" She says as she gives me a hug. She pulls away from the hug and looks at me. "You look like shit."

"Thanks Al, means a lot."

"We got a lot of work to do before we leave" She tells me as she walks over to Blaire, sitting in the bouncer looking around. She picks her up and gives her a bunch of kisses.

"What are you talking about?" I ask as I sit back down on the couch.

"We're going to the UVA UNC spring training game" She responds with a smile. 

"Ali..."

"You can't get out of this. Your parents are coming over in an hour and a half. Go shower" She says as she kicks me.

I get up and walk up the stairs to the master bedroom. I go into the bathroom and turn on the shower. I hop in the shower, wash my hair and body and shave my legs. Once I'm done I get out and dry off. I wrap a towel around me and go to my closet to get a pair of jean shorts and my favorite UNC t-shirt. I walk back to the bathroom to get dressed and blow dry my hair. It dries pretty quickly and I run a straightener through it to get the frizziness down. Once I'm done with my hair I put on some makeup to make myself look presentable. I put on my necklace and tuck it into my shirt. I grab my converse and slip them on and look in the mirror. I'm happy with how I look so I head downstairs, right as my parents arrive. 

"You look good" My mom says as she walks inside. 

"Thanks"

"Ali just showed up didn't she?" Mom asks me.

"Yeah she did" I tell her with a laugh.

"You're ready! Perfect timing!" Ali says as she puts Blaire's bottle down. "Say bye to your kids so we can leave"

I go over to Flynn and give him a hug and a kiss.

"Love you Mommy" He says as he snuggles into my neck.

"I love you too baby, I'll be back around dinner okay?" He nods his head and lets go of me.

I give Blaire a kiss on the head as she sits in the bouncer kicking her legs. 

"He's been really wanting to swim" I tell my parents. "If you want to take him go for it. You kno-"

"Riley go, we'll be fine okay" Dads says cutting me off. He gives me a hug and a kiss. 

"Have fun sweetie, you need it." My mom tells me as she hugs me. I nod my head, grab my wallet and my phone and head out the front door with Ali.

"Let the road trip begin!" Ali says as we pull down the street.
