Expect The Unexpected

Chapter 44

"How much more do you have to unpack?" I ask Sutton as I open a box that holds her clothes.

"Just that one." She says as she looks into it.

"Dresser or closet?"

"Closet. I'm pretty sure it all that stuff that can be hung."

I take out a few shirts and hang them on hangers on Sutton's side of the closet.

"Ri you have a ton of clothes."

"I know" I say with a smile.

"Do you even wear them all?" Sutton asks as she hangs up a pair of pants.

"I do actually."

"Okay whatever you say babe" She replies.

"That section is maternity clothes though" I tell her pointing to a small section of clothes. "I didn't think I was going to need much since I wasn't big at first but nope I popped at the last 3 months."

"Damn, at least you know what to expect next time" Sutton responds with a smirk. I smile and shake my head.

"Bailey came home last night right?"

"Yeah she got in around 5 o'clock."

Bailey and Sutton have been best friends since they were in middle school. She's been in Australia since September working with a vineyard to create a wine for the company she works for here in DC.

"How's her jetlag?"

"I don't think that bad. I'm not sure. She's coming over tonight for the barbecue."

"Good. I'm excited to meet her."

"She's excited to meet you" Sutton tells me and I blush slightly. "So who's coming over tonight?"

"My whole family, Ali, Keegan, Emma, Crystal, Christine, Kate, Brad and Jackson, Emily and Aaron, and Steph. Did you invite anyone from your family?"

"Just my brother Ryan"

"Can he come?

"No, he's in New York for work I think." I nod my head as I fold one of her sweaters and put it on the shelf. I hear Flynn's cries from the baby monitor that's sitting on the floor. "Go get him, we pretty much finished unpacking."

I give her a quick kiss and walk down the hall to get Flynn.

"Hey buddy" I say softly as I open his door.

"Mommy" He responds as he rubs his eyes and reaches out for me.

I go over and sit on his bed and he crawls into my lap, wrapping his arms around me.

"Did you have a good nap little man?" I can feel him nod his head and I rock back and forth. "Should we get dressed for the barbecue?"

"Yeah"

"Do you wanna wear your jersey?" He nods his head in excitement and I stand up and go to his dresser to grab his USWNT jersey. He takes off his current shirt and I help him putting his jersey on, leaving his navy flag shorts on. I help him put on his sneakers and as I'm tying them Blaire starts to cry down the hall.

"Let's go grab Blaire okay?" He nods his head and runs down the hall to her room.

"Momma!" Flynn says as he sees Sutton go into Blaire's room.

"Hey bud" Sutton says as she picks him up. "Did you have a good nap?"

"Yeah" Flynn replies and I smile.

I'm really thankful my kids love my girlfriend as much as I do.

"I brought alcohol!!" Crystal says as she walks through the front door. "Hey Ri!"
