Vineclaw and Willowpaw ran out of the undergrowth.
"Runningwish! What happened?!" Vineclaw asked, sniffing her fur and insuring she was unharmed.
"Foxfoot!" Willowpaw yowled.
"No. Our deputy... Willowpaw, go tell Greystar, Runningwish and I will bring Foxfoot back to camp." Vineclaw ordered. Willowpaw nodded and pelted back to camp.
"What's going on?" Ashwing demanded when she walked out of the ferns with Lionpelt.
"Foxfoot!" Lionpelt yelped.
"How did this happen? Runningwish, you were with him! What happened?" Lionpelt demanded her daughter. Runningwish was stunned with shock, her fur standing on end as she stared at their deceased deputy.
"An adder bit him." Runningwish finally said.
"Ashwing, help me bring his body back to camp for a vigil. Lionpelt take Runningwish back to camp and have Hawkpath make sure she is alright.
Lionpelt nudged at Runningwish. Runningwish started moving her paws, but continued to stare at Foxfoots body. Who would be the new deputy?
